Media Player File Types?

Guys,

Anyone hooked up a hard drive to the USB and read a bunch if movies off the drive? Work well?

Does it support 2 different movies per rear screen?

Regards

Updates - avi files, not MKV; play...

Also, only on front screen. I cannot for the life of me send the video to the rear screens. 2022 P440e AB

Want to know something stupid?

One must put the hard drive into the rear USB for media player display on the rear screens.
- eh? So you can't stream from the front USB (in the centre armrest).

So; if can't use the front screen to choose media, I have to rely upon a 2 year to use the remote control. Nuts.
- really stupid design. 2022 P440e AB

Yup. But so far; only on the front screen.
- I cannot get the rear USB to recognise the same drive that the front USB can. 2022 P440e AB

Just managed to get a stick to work... Must be FAT 32 formatted (not NTFS).
- At least the system connected to the stick.

Can see the files (from RSE only) using the remote control.

But it displays one frame per 10 seconds or so... I'd be pleased to hear how others get on. 2022 P440e AB

have you checked the rear USB is fully wired usb compliant ! IE has the voltage to power a USB HDD the front is fully wired so it also charge mobiles so also has the power required for a 2.5 or 1.8" self powered HDD , the rear will work with Sticks and also SSD drives as these do not require a full line voltage. 2014 5.0SC AB

Makes sense... But thats a bit crappy isn't it?

Having to use the rear USB for the rear screens only. Meaning that you can't set the media for the SE on he front screens. Which is a hassle. 2022 P440e AB

I think a lot of things have changed on the USB over the last couple of years , IE the Apple lics before you had to have the apple cable which was a rip off but also the manufacturers had to pay a lic fee to apple as well per module ! Apple being the usual (*&%^*&^&*) ***

Now that other smart phones have come on to match if not better the IOS devices they all use USB so hey presto Apple are told to go forth by loads of companies ?

The real pain was that the manuals for the new sport and FFRR both showed 2 x USB front sockets and cars only have 1 Sad i went in a pre-production car that had music on a stick on 1 front socket and movies on socket 2 in the front .

Got to be honest i think RSE is dead IMO , with tablets now so cheap and can be mounted with ease , films uploaded for kids , 3G etc etc and now means you are bang up to date all the time , RSE is out of date within 12 months and a waste of time bar watching a DVD ! Who knows maybe the new 2014-15 RSE that is coming may have full 3G / 4G internet access built in and can be updated with new content etc on the go ! now that would be a step forward IMO. So with a possible newer HD front screen as well then you can move forward and who is that bothered about dual view front ?. 2014 5.0SC AB

I've given up on the media player, and am running Plex on an old iPhone 4 to sync media that we want in the car. It's connected via the component inputs at the rear of the armrest console footwell.

But.... Weirdly, of course....

Anything you play via the rear Aux input cannot be displayed on the front screen, nor can you route audio through the speakers... So headphones only.

And ... One cannot select Aux (rear) from the touch screen.

Could land rover make this any harder?

Hopefully car play fixes this Censored . 2022 P440e AB
