I know this is a "how long is a piece of string" question but I am in a position now to buy a RRS but I would be so upset to have a load of issues with it . So my question is what are the chances of me having a fairly hassle free time if I go to my maximum budget and get a 62 plate 3.0 sdv6 hse with about 10k on the clock and a two year LR warranty . All opinions would be very gratefully received.

Hi and welcome to the site.
I have a 2012 model SDV6 HSE, Ive had it from new and haven't had any problems with it. Its a fantastic car and i enjoy driving it everyday As long has it has a warranty then there is nothing to worry about, just drive it and enjoy it. I know this site has a few horror stories but don't let this put you off owning one. Yes you might get a few niggles with it, but you would with just about any other marque its machanical so its to be expected. I haven't heard of any major issues with the SDV6. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Use finance and if you get problems reject it as soon as possible - I should of done with the last one

Find a good dealer and 2 warranty you should be able to relax and enjoy though

I've had 3 reliable years with my 60 plate (19k miles). Replaced under warranty:

* 1 x ABS sensor
* 1 x steering wheel sprocket thing (tiny amounts of steering play)
* 3 x wiper blades (I complained at first service and they replaced for free!)
* 1 x tailgate strut (upper gate was slightly wobbly)
* that is all

What the upcoming years of warranty-less ownership holds for me I do not know... L405 P400e Autobiography (MY2020)... Silicon Silver / Espresso

I have the 2013 SDV6 and it is a great car.
You will have the benefit of the 2 years warranty, so if it is the car you want go for it. MY13.5 Autobiography, Santorini Black, Privacy Glass. Gone

ilard, as others have said, an extended warranty is a must IMHO. I had the LR one on my previous RRS and it more than paid for itself plus I got LRCS support when needed!

Ive had mine since july and done 9000 already, driven every day to work and only had one problem when a circlip popped on the intercooler hose causing it go to reduced power. Man from LR asisst said he'd a few that had been wronly assembled in the factory.

Well this guys technique was less than refined, he started it up then mashed the loud pedal into the carpet Then he said 'aye you've an air leak,' Produced a pair of pliers, fkd about for bit then started the engine again repeated the test Thats it fixed now he said, can your hear the difference?
