End of Year 3 - 2010 RRS TDV8 Reflections | |
I posted a subject earlier about year 3 for my 2010 TDV8 and all the issues that I have had.
Here are my reflections.
I bought the TDV8 for around AU$165,000 in December 2010. A lot of money but hey you only live once.
Initial inpression - Driving Out of The Dealership
This is great does, doesn't get any better.
3-6 Months Later
Why does my RRS sound like an old 80 Series Toyota Landcruiser with serious defects. Not Happy.
3 years on, Range Rover do not no how to build a reliable quality vehicle - way overpriced and service is sh?t.
On the the other hand my 2005 Honda Civic EP3 5 Door Vi Hatch (paid AU$32,000) which I bought new and still drive and is like new.
Upgraded with Type R suspension, Alpine multi media system, rear entertainment system, cameras, TV, phone, xenons, 18" wheels etc.
Initial impression (from memory) -not to bad, a bid boring (read no V8 engine) but goes when pushed.
8 Years On
Not one issue - nothing has failed or broken, it dives like new, it looks like new. Nothing has been replaced, I mean nothing.
Dives OK, nothing exciting but hey my average speed is 27km/h.
Dealer service is OK, they dont damage the car like Landrover dealers during service.
Am I missing something here.

In some ways I agree with what I think you're trying to say. I can't really speak with much experience if the RRS as I'm a relatively new owner, but I have had a few Alfa Romeos- one of which was a nightmare from day one, it spent four times as much time in the local garage than in mine, let me down every time I didn't want it to. At the same time I had an old Rover which I paid hundreds not thousands for. It never went wrong, was comfortable, economical and when something needed replacing it cost me next to nothing.
But I hated the Rover and I loved the Alfa. To a non petrol head that probably doesn't make any sense but I think to most reading this it will.
For me, so far, the RRS is the Alfa. Everytime I drive it I'm waiting for something expensive to happen. I'm petrified of kerbing the wheels and hate parking it in car parks. So much so that most of the time I'll leave it where it is and take something else.
But, I absolutely adore it and when I drive it I feel like a dog with two dicks. Yes, there are many foibles, but it's gorgeous and I love it.
Just my tuppence worth. But I know what you mean!
