Australia 2010 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Santorini Black
End of Year 3 - 2010 RRS TDV8

I am coming to the end of my 3rd year in a 2010 TDV8.

As per all Landrover products you spend 3-5 years from new dealing with warranty issues - part of owning a Landrover I guess. My car has 18,000km of gentle driving on it and never been off road with the following warranty work carried out.

- Front ARB bushes replaced.
- Airconditioning compressor replaced.
- Air suspension compressor replaced 3 times - still not right lots of vibration/noise coming through to the cabin.
- Rear diff (maybe transfer case) being replaced under warranty - massive drive train shunt (I think - still in the dealer after 5 days).
- Battery replaced.
- Tail gate striker assembly replaced.
- HVAC temperature controls/fan control replaced.
- Air suspension ride height being fixed - drivers side higher than passengenger side (I think - still in the dealer after 5 days).
- IPOD lead replaced.
- Drivers seat foam replaced - sagged on drivers seat.
- LH centre console hockey stick repled.

The main issue as always is the effort required to get things corrected by the dealer.

During the 3 years of ownership I would say my car has been in the dealer for at least 4 weeks for warranty work.

Are other brands this bad. You would have to be really keen to buy another Sport if mine is any example.

Jesus, that sounds shocking, I cant understand how some cars never have any faults, yet some ( like yours ) can be a total night mare.
Cheers

Warranty Update

My warranty woes continue.

Since my post of 30 November 2013 parts on the car continue to be replaced.

A new airconditioning compressor has just been ordered for the car (ex UK none in Australia). This will be the second replacement airconditioning compressor.

A new rear differential has just been ordered for the car (ex UK none in Australia). This will be the second replacement rear differential.

The plastic trim at the base of the windscreen is being replaced. The original is literally disintegrating from sun damage (even though my car spend most of the time under cover). The rest of the cars exterior trim is fine.

The dealer will shortly be dismantling the dashboard to sort out a major rattle. Not looking forward to the results of this one.

The car just spent a week in the dealer to try and resolve issues.

At 4.5 years old the vehicle has just done 26,000km (16,000 miles). Its a good thing I took out extended Landrover warranty when the car was new.

Has anybody else had the same level of problems that I have had. Is the new Sport any better?

By the way my fuel consumption still averages just over 16l/100km or 17mpg. I cant see the benefits of a diesel powered Sport. The dealer has looked at the vehicle fueling system and can't fault it.

There's something very wrong with that fuel consumption!

How come such low mileage? Is it lots of short journeys or laid up for long periods?

Mines just ticking over to 60k miles (2011 car). Driven daily but very few journeys under 15 miles. Quite a lot off off-roading/green laning and gearbox usually in Sport mode. Only had one issue with it which was sorted quickly and it's actually been one of the most reliable cars I've owned, certainly compared to the Mer exes I've owned.

Some people do seem to just get bad ones though!

Warranty Issues Continued

My 2010 TDV8 is back at the dealers (been there for 3 weeks this time - not sure when Im getting it back yet). The second rear differential replacement has not cured the drive train shunt. They now think its the transmission. Additional warranty items to be fixed include:
- Rear tail lamp - mists up on a cold damp morning.
- Battery needs replacing (this is the second one under warranty).
- Engine rattling under light load.
- Rattles around the centre console.
- Rear roll bar bushes severly worn (at 26,000km?).
- Noisy ventilation fan as low fan speeds.

In total the car has spent 2.5 months (yes thats right, not days, not weeks - months) in the dealer this year.

Its a good thing it doesn't cost a lot to buy a Range Rover otherwise you would have to laugh.

Sorry to hear you are having so much trouble with your car! I bought my RRS after having similar troubles to you with my Mercedes ML! I got mine off my sister who had had it from new (no warranty on mine)! I was very sceptical when she said it had been really reliable; both of us have had no issues with it at all!

your problems seem overly excessive, after 4.5 years you have been very patient, you should have asked them
to replace it a few years ago

Had a few problems on mine over the years, 2 recoveries caused by a single wheel sensor Twisted Evil and then a large bill
for a tow from the bottom of Cape York to Cairns when a turbo actuator went south ($1600 out of pocket), but apart
from that, not much else i can think of. That is on a MY10 3.0 with 108K on the clock, (60,000 Miles in the old imperial
measure to my fellow poms)

As for Fuel consumption, heading to Cape York cross country, towing a 1 ton camper trailer, i was still getting
sub 14L/100K's, i average around Sydney (mostly urban) 10.4L/100K.s Another Pommie Bar Steward down under
