Amazing what a factory spec car with normal supplied road tyres can do!

Jim

I'm fairly sure that LR Experience vehicles are all fitted with the locking rear diff option (where available). That does make them a little bit more capable (waits for comments that the locking rear diff makes little difference).

Not sure about locking diff, but when I went on one, the most amazing bit was going up a hill you could bearly walk up, with the near side wheels on a ladder structure with roller bearings on, basically the only driven wheels were the offside ones. That sold it to me!
Dunkeld is a really nice part of the country as well, really is worth the effort for a weekend away!
Cheers

Wales 2012 Range Rover Sport SDV6 Autobiography Baltic Blue

Did a Course about 6 years ago at a site just off the M50 when I bought the D3..would definateley recommend doing one wherever it may be as it inspired confidence and just made you realise how capable the vehicle is and allowed you the confidence to tackle stuff you wouldn't normally consider ...even on road tyres.

That would have been Eastnor - it's only a few minutes from the M50. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

I've got an experience day booked at Luton in the new RRS in Dec at Luton.

Thinking I might change it now.

I fear, that having been well used to driving off road in 4x4s and large tractors, any of the courses will seem fairly tame to me.

Still be interesting to see the capability of the vehicle though.

I have done the Freelander2 Discovery 3 and Range Rover Sport. At Milton Keynes, Luton, and Ashford. I thought the Ashford Site was best as it is in a natural Quarry. At times it seemed we were going to flip over as we hung in our seat belts. And climbing out of the natural quarry pond, when all you could see was sky, was a different experience. I would not use my own White 10MY RRS i might get it dirty itisme

Off roading (proper) is funny when it comes to feelings and what looks extreme and what actually isn't.

Ive been in cars when they roll (with full roll cages) and its odd. to me its always feels worse when its not going to happen and when it actually does happen its reasonably quick so you don't notice - if that makes sense. Mike

The scariest thing when doing the LR experiences is when they do the cross slope driving. The thing sits at such an angle that you feel sure it will roll but, of course, it never does. I've asked the instructors what the vehicles are designed to do and no one would give me a straight answer - one did suggest it was designed for a maximum 45deg cross slope but that they recommend 30deg as a safety factor. I reckon 30deg would feel scary enough to stop anyone wanting to go steeper than that.

I think 45deg sounds a bit optimistic to be honest. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

I agree, I wish I had managed to get a photo while we were on the slope.

It was amazing to look out of the drivers window and only see sky and then literally look down at the passenger and see only grass out of that side! Thumbs Up 2023 P440e SE Dynamic on order -cancelled

for me the scariest thing was stopping on a really steep incline, on the crest, selecting reverse, engaging hill descent then turning the Engine OFF and allowing the Vehicle to back down the slope, ( steep, really steep)...CONFIDENCE BUILDING...
