I've been looking at whether to downsize to an Evoque or whether to get another Sport. I love the one I have but given the cost differential and the fact that the SE and HSE no longer have low range etc... I wondered whether the difference in price was worth it.

Is the Sport, without low range, that much more capable than the Evoque - I don't really do any off roading, mostly look for the car to perform in the snow (with winter tyres). I understand the Sport will still have air suspension so presumably that means you can raise and lower the suspension if needed, but not sure what the other differences might be.

I will be getting a test drive of the Evoque, on and off road but just wanted to seek views from others.

Test dive the Evoque and I think you will stick with the sport.
I found the Evoque noisy and uncomfortable, after driving both I went for the sport.

We have one of each at work so can answer honestly that I would chose the sport anyday over the Evoque. The evoque is a great car, but you would probably regret 'downgrading'.
The 4 cylinder in the Evoque is a noisy clattery thing, I don't think they have laminated side windows to keep noise down like the sport. I love the space in the sport, I can chuck my kids bikes in the back rather than faff about taking wheels off . Saying that , the running costs are a huge plus point for the evoque. I would be thinking seriously about an evoque or a disco when it comes to change unless LR offer the off road drivetrain on the SE

2014 Facelift Discovery

I completely understand your issue with the cost differential between the old model RRS and the new. I owned 2 Sports from new but when looking to change this time I had the same dilemma as you and eventually opted for a Disco 4 HSE Luxury..... It has all the toys plus massive practicality. It's not as dynamic to drive as a Sport but it is still a fabulous vehicle with superb on & off road performance. We also own an Evoque and whilst we love it, there is no way we could live with it if it was our only car. It's just too small, especially if you have kids.

We did similar, We are getting a 2014MY discovery to replace the sport. Couldn't see the point of the Lux for us, but the HSE with a number of the new toys and as mentioned the practicality

Oh and as a point its not that the discovery is cheaper or too cheap - its the sport is too much (before the disco goes up in price!) Mike

That's a beautiful Disco right there. I would certainly consider one as a replacement to the sport.

I was a fan of the Evoque and considered downsizing too until I had one as a loan car - sounded like my old D2 but not as nice a ride

Very claustrophobic unless you get the panoramic roof

Test drive one for yourself to be sure but I have now removed it from my list of Sport replacements - I would buy a FL2 before an Evoque and spend the money I saved on something else

I'm in the same position.

The new RRS still has to grow on me, as opposite of her price...
Evoque is not to my taste.

What about the all new 2014 Mercedes GLA?
A good option is to drive the Merc for 2 years, and then get yourself a affordable priced pre owned new 2013 model RRS!

Thanks everyone, the more I look into the more I'm convinced I would see the Evoque as a backward step and would probably kick myself if I did it. So, it's now stick with what I've got or get a new one.
