New RRS Service History Record

As my Wife drove off with our new RRS before I had even completed payment, I didn't get chance to check all the Booklets and Locking wheel nut etc was with the car.

I checked through this tonight and noticed that LR now keep a record of the Service History online and there is nowhere in the service book to record the service stamps.

Clearly, LR are trying another angle to encourage owners to use the Franchise Network for servicing. Personally, I keep all invoices in a binder and hand them to the next owner however, how many owners do this and how many dealers discard this paperwork? a large % would be my guess. Whilst the stamp in the book does not always represent the true service history of a given car, it should provide some traceability and some potential buyers would rather see a recognised specialist service stamp rather than a LR dealer.

What are members view on this? Do you think it will have a greater impact on residuals of cars that leave the LR Dealer Service network in the future? Current:

Good points made, I hadn't thought it through as completely. I guess on the one hand the cheaper fixed price servicing is a real bonus and as long as you can request a print off of the service history from the dealer if you are selling on privately there should be no issue. I would guess that near to 100% of buyers will take the service pack and as such I would doubt if independents will see much in the way of service business during the period covered? I am sure JLR had this all figured out before offering the lower cost service packs and ultimately will be making more profit from the scheme than they have done historically. MY 2014 HSE Dynamic

I keep every single piece of paperwork relating to my cars irrespective of its value and pass it on to the next owner, nothing tells a better story of a cars life than the paperwork. As far as future servicing goes I think more people will be using the franchise network if the prices are reasonable and that can only be a good thing as far as residual values go. MY16 AUTOBIOGRAPHY Indus silver with some toys
