Chipped TDV8

Chip arrived last week, in it went... and my normal grin as I take off from the lights has lasted 5 days so far... Not sure how much extra power is there but acceleration is so much smoother... Love it!

Yeah (when not driving to the new power...lol) did 250km the day before putting chip in got 10.3l/100k and return trip next day was 9.4L/100k. was using cruise to sit on speed limit all the way both trips.

on freeway (at 100k/hr) I'm getting around 8.5 which is a big improvement...

But hard to not put the boot in around town so haven't seen any difference as yet (will try and drive nice this week and see how it compares)

Well worth the $135!!!!!!!!

This is basically a remap, but it uses a chip in the control circuitry after the ecu, just plugs in and can be removed and the car reverts back to normal program. Simple plug and play took 5 minutes (and most of that was figuring how to unplug a connector by feel). Remap isn't really an option for us (we are the most isolated capital city in the world and LR mapping experts are fairly thin on t he ground) so I though I'd give it a go, honestly I can't see remapping doing much better than this... and the price is just a little less!!!

The one I got has 2 settings one for power and one for economy, if you're chasing better mpg I'm sure you can do better than I'm getting on the power setting (less grins I would think).

I think there may be a site sponsor who offers chips, if not PM me and I'll send you a link

In the UK, talk to BAS - they're a site sponsor here.

I have one their remaps on my TDV8 and it's jolly good. Thumbs Up 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Where to plug it in?

Hi all,

First post, I have also just bought a chip box for my TDV8 but it didn't come with instructions on my specific vehicle, could anybody please help in pointing out where the common rail connector is on the TDV8 2007 RRS, I am dying to give it a go. Thanks in advance

Hey Beano I got the Drakebox2 from Italy. I spent ages looking into them and this "says" it give s the best performance upto 369hp so for $150 I thought I'd give it a go. Right that should be 3 posts so I should be able to PM you now. Cheers Richy
