United Kingdom 2008 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Java Black

Have a search on the Disco 3 site. Remember seeing a thread on chain failure - think it's a rare but known problem.
One here; http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic98654.h...cam+chain.
Not good news as the valves may have been damaged.

also have a look at the oil pump casing sticky thread - while the engine is stripped it might be an idea to think about upgrading to the strengthened oil pump casing; failure of which is a more common problem on the TDV6. 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

well i would start by approaching the indy and if they don't cooperate then I would seek legal advice Recently bought a 2007 RRS HSE TDV6 for a Pimp-My-Ride-Project.
DONE: Meduza front bumper, AB rear bumper, AB tailpipes, calipers repainted, rear upper tailgate upgrade, side steps, AB front grille, AB side vents, rear LED lights, clear side repeaters, integrated daytime running lights, LED headlights.
TO DO: color code sills and pillars.

Terrible news; very sorry to hear that.

Edit: How very convenient for Land Rover to find it is not their fault

I'm not a lawyer but it sounds to me as if you have a case against the independent garage under the terms of the Supply of Goods and Services Act. You should perhaps get in touch with the Citizen's Advice Bureau which is a free service. I contacted them when I had a dispute with a dealer and they were extremely helpful and involved my local Trading Standards Office. Threatened with legal action which might result in a County Court judgement against them most businesses are keen to settle out of court to avoid adverse publicity and high legal fees.

Edit: You can go down the small claims track for sums of up to £10,000 so you just squeak in http://www.adviceguide.org.uk/england/law_...laims.htm.

You don't have to employ a lawyer just fill a form in: https://www.gov.uk/make-court-claim-for-money/overview

Please keep us informed. 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

I thought that the Rear Belts needed to be changed at the same time as the Front, also I have heard from several sources that if the Rears do go, it shouldn't damage the valves. What exactly is the damage??

Sadly, I think you have no hope of anything from the non-LR garage. You only have LR's word that it was a fault in the work done by someone else. There can be no proof either way. I don't see a court ordering the other garage to pay anything as they only have LR's word against the other garage's word. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Have Land Rover provided a copy of an engineer's report signed off by a qualified engineer? If so it would be hard to defend against it without any evidence to the contrary wouldn't it? Agreed, an independent expert opinion would be better. 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

Land Rover have presented a qualified engineers report for the failure, photos and text to back up the fault found. Indi is sending in their insurers to examine problem.
Going to be a long drawn out process i think.
Baxc! not your garage mate.
