Help? Cam belt or Chain?

Hi,
I've been looking at a 2.7 TD 2005 the dealer can't tell me if its chain or belt?

It has belt driven camshafts. The belts should be changed at 7 years or 105k miles.

There are also chains connecting the camshafts but service schedule does not include changing. 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

Belt for the TDV6 and Chain for the TDV8.

I'm sure someone will confirm soon enough Thumbs Up LCFC. Receiver of threatening letters from Overfinch.

It's a belt and it's due at 105k miles or 7 years whichever is sooner. So your 2005 should have had at least one new cam belt in its service history.

I hope your dealer isn't a LR dealer - I'd expect them to know whether it's a belt or not... 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

I would find another dealer......... And there are two timing belts on a V6. One a "timing" belt, the other a fuel pump belt at rear of engine 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀
TDV8 Sport HSE...... Gone. Loved it but it didn't love me!!
Now rolling in MY10 Fullfat TDV8 Vogue. Slammed it to go round corners🙈
Cruising daily #56 mph in a Volvo V8. 😱
Lots of other toys in the cupboard...😜

cam belt or chain

Belt driven with rear chain linking both camshafts. I know this because my chain has snapped after 62000 miles, engine finished.
