TDV6 vs. SDV6

Can anybody tell me why is SDV6 so much more expensive then TDV6?! Shocked

For 0.3 seconds faster acceleration to 100 km/h (and higher fuel consumption) - 5000 EUR!

Seems like 5k EUR pays you the privilege to be able to pay 4300 EUR more for the on/off road package.

SDV6.... as you said has the more powerful engine.... Plus far higher standard specification and greater choice of optional extras...
like mood lighting... Oxford leather..... piano finishers ...wheel choices etc etc
In the UK the TDV6 cannot be specified with the on off road pack....I think worldwide as well....
It also only has 3 or so choices of interior leather colour and interior trim available to spec....as opposed to about 15 on the SD...
You will have to check your local configurator or online brochure to find out the exact differences in specification ....
The TD is quite limited when already spending that amount of money on a car in tha first place... in my opinion......
I certainly wouldnt be prepared to make the compromise...... but it does make the TD better value......
Just how JLR planned it !!!!! Whistle 2014.5 SDV6 AB Dynamic ... Fuji /Santorini Pan roof and 22's

The problem ism as I see in most EU countries, the SDV6 doesn't mean you also get HSE level of equipment - it is still an SE, specification with the grained lather, less number of interior combinations etc... so the 5k EUR I have mentioned is just for the engine (I guess engine software upgrade)...

But yes, they force you to take SDV6 if you want to take the more advanced dynamic response, advanced dynamic, TR2 and torque vectoring, low ratio...

I would also not want to compromise, but it will cost me a bit Surprised

Interesting point..... I think it has been discussed on another thread and the general consensus was that it is a little bit more than re mapping or software only..... It really becomes harder to justify if thats all it is for 5k ish..... although there will be plenty including me that just ........ have to have the spec Evil or Very Mad Big Cry 2014.5 SDV6 AB Dynamic ... I believe the engine is more than just a different software install. The SDV6 has, I think, sequential turbos. I would agree that E5k is a bit steep just for the engine. If you got LR, TR2 etc. as well then it would be a better deal. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Belgium

I made a similar thread some time ago when I ordered mine. I first spec'ed out a TDV6, but that would mean no off-road/on-road pack, so I switched over to the SDV6 after all, I couldn't see myself buying a Range Rover without the off-road pack.
The on-road pack packs quite some cool technology and the dynamic program seeemed like a nice mode to play with so I decided to add that too (especially since it's a Sport after all). Overall the SDV6 is (quite?) a bit more powerful and doesn't get punished with a huge consumption difference. In Belgium the price difference is 3800 euro (that's excluding the off-road/on-road pack). The SDV6 also has bigger brakes. They recently compared the TDV6 and SDV6 in a Belgian magazine and they did prefer to drive the SDV6 since it's just more fun to drive. Having driven the SDV6 (can't compare it to a TDV6 though) I can only comply, it's a very sweet engine!

Here are some figures they posted (TDV6 211HP vs SDV6 292HP):

0-60 km/h: 4s vs 3,4
0-100 km/h: 9,3 vs 7,7
0-160 km/h: 26,9 vs 20,4
400m: 16,7 vs 15,6
1000m: 30,8 vs 28,7

30-60 km/h: 3s vs 2,5
60-90 km/h: 3,9s vs 3,4
90-120 kmh/h: 5,9s vs 4,8s

Mind you, this is for the 'reduced' 211HP TDV6 (to cut down on taxes etc)

Wow..... I didn't realise they did a variant below the 258hp....... for some markets...
The 211hp is like a time warp back to early 1990's power levels......
You also can't spec red brake calipers on the lower models........ Can't be having that.... Laughing 2014.5 SDV6 AB Dynamic ... Fuji /Santorini Pan roof and 22's
