Like to know where on their test car they saw this ... !!

The Sport is the first Land Rover to be offered with a colour head-up display however, which can relay sat-nav instructions. Twisted Evil 2014.5 SDV6 AB Dynamic ... Fuji /Santorini Pan roof and 22's

I didn't realise that the heated seats are accessed through the on-screen menu system. Stupid idea. Things like that should be selectable by the driver without taking his eyes off the road. Which idiot comes up with these stupid ideas? It's just techy stuff for techy stuff's sake. Stupid. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Absolutely.... madness..... Evil or Very Mad

Whilst having a moan about the seats......
Am I the only person that has difficulty getting his hand down the side of the seats to use the electric seat controls.....

My hand barely fits in between the gap at the side of the seat and the door panel ......
Even less so not wanting to damage the high end watches I wear...... 2014.5 SDV6 AB Dynamic ... Fuji /Santorini Pan roof and 22's

There is a softkey that directly brings up the screen for heating/cooling the seats. Not that bad imho

The heaters on the Evoque seats are in each climate control turn knob. Very simple and very effective. The heating control on my XJ touchscreen was a pain to use - surprised they have done the same on RRS2. On order Corris Grey New HSE 5+2 with Santorini contrast roof , ebony/cirrus interior and panoramic roof.

As they are on the RRS1. As you say, simple and effective and, like the temp control itself, can be used without having to take one's eyes from the road.

My own view on this move is that it copies what BMW started with their i-drive system (or whatever it's called). In BMW's case, it makes sense to put things in to a menu structure on the screen because, as we know, BMW's base models have very little kit included. Thus, the low end of the range can look as clean inside as the upper end of the range without those horrible switch banks everywhere. For them it's a way of conning their customers I suppose.

For those of us driving more adequately specified vehicles, placing all of the switches in a menu screen is just counter-intuitive and pointless. I guess it makes the interior designer's life easier, however, which is probably why so many are keen to do it. I'm also guessing that it makes the life of the manufacturer easier too - they can basically use all of the same systems across a range of different vehicles without having to produce different switch gear for each vehicle type.

Whatever the reason, it's not good ergonomics and certainly not a design that improves road safety. Now, if they could implement a properly effective voice control system then it wouldn't matter - one could just say "driver's seat heat 1 [or cold 1 if cooling is fitted]". Whenever I've tried to use the voice control in my RRS1 I've found it to be unusable, sadly. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

My hand is also tight between seat and door pocket (especially with a local area road atlas tucked in there). I don't have the watch worry, however, as I view watches as I view cars - they are items to be used. Having a watch one is afraid to use for fear of wear marks is akin to having a 4x4 and never going off road for fear of scratches. In my opinion, I hasten to add! (Although I'm aware that I seem to be somewhat of a minority in holding this sort of view Rolling with laughter ) 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

It's probably the left handed watch he's worried about. Driver seat being on the *wrong* side.

This conversation just reminded me of the Mr. Bean episode where he loses his watch in a turkey Laughing
