New Zealand 2013 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Autobiography Santorini Black
Autobiography Rear Spoiler/Camera

Hi Guys, First Post

Own a 09 plate TDV8 HSE in Stornoway Grey with Ebony Trim and in the process of doing a few upgrades.
Have recently fitted a full HST bodykit to the car. Will post a few pictures when I work out how to do it

I have just changed the HST rear spoiler for the later genuine Autobiography one with led type brake light fitted which all works ok.

My question is the spoiler also has a genuine fixed rear view camera fitted which also has a genuine wiring harness connected to it.

The harness consists of a co-axial cable with a brown fakra connector fitted, and a pair of wires one red and one black which I assume are the red (power) and (black) earth wires.

As the Nav screen has a brown Fakra connector on the rear, if I plug the camera lead fakra connector into it and connect the other two wires via the reversing light wiring assuming it is 12volt as no voltage marked on camera, is the camera likely to work or am I being to optimistic for it to be that simple.

Apologise if I have waffled on a bit.

Cheers
Col

Hi,

You need to program camera option in car configuration file, than it should work!

12v is correct voltage for camera!

Col,
Is you RRS pre 10MY ? how did you fit the roof spoiler - the fixing points are different - I have fitted a spoiler on mine but just wondered how you got around the problem. My spoiler also has the fitted camera but unless i am mistaken pre 10MY vehicles do not have the capability to read the signal ( if that makes sense ) I have a reversing camera fitted but that runs through a GVIF unit to the Sat nav screen. I will be very interested to see if you can make it work Thumbs Up 16MY Estoril Blue SVR.............
17MY Autobiography Dynamic - Corris Grey - WOW.
14MY Autobiography Dynamic - SDV6 - Fuji White Smile
12MY Autobiography - SDV6 - Santorini Black - Dual View - Rear Entertainment - Sunroof.
12MY Autobiography - SDV6 - Orkney Grey - awesome ;(
2005 Java Black - 4.2 V8 Supercharged First Edition- will never be forgotten ;(

Hi

Yeah mine's a late 09 plate pre facelift model, it really isn't to difficult to fit the later spoiler. the way I did it you do to have to attack you pride and joy with a hacksaw.
Remove the original spoiler and you will see the three original mountings which are part of a bracket bonded to the rear window glass you need to cut off the outer two brackets, and replace the rear window hinges with the ones from a 2010 on model as these have the mounting brackets as part of the hinge which then gives you the correct spacing for the later type spoiler. With the centre mounting you will need to drill the hole out from 8mm to 10mm as the mounting screws in the new spoiler are larger diameter. Found it easier to remove the window and do it on a bench. Obviously when you refit the window you may need to realign it but mine just matched up to the original marks and was spot on.

On the later spoiler the mounting screws are adjustable to align it to the roof panel, the two outer ones are left alone.

On the centre one I left the screw attached but there is a plastic adjuster nut and retainer which you need to remove to leave the screw flush with the spoiler. Once the spoiler is attached to the car you will need to make a spacer washer to go over the adjusting screw to compensate for the adjuster nut and retainer that you have to remove.

The thickness of the spacer is dependent on the gap between the spoiler and the mounting bracket on the tailgate rear window in my case it was about 3mm which packed it out enough to align the spoiler with the roof panel, I imagine this gap may vary slightly between different cars, but just align the spoiler to the roof and measure the gap between the underside of the spoiler and the mounting bracket and make a spacer that thickness to fill the gap then a nut goes on the adjusting screw and tighten it up like a normal nut and bolt. the two outer ones a quite straight forward you just align to roof panel fit nuts to the adjusting screws and lock them up. I made the spacer from a piece of plastic I found in the garage.

It really isn't as bad as it reads and took me a couple of hours in total. I do have the part numbers of the later hinges if you wanted them and if I remember right the were around £100 for the pair.

As far as the camera is concerned I work overseas and only home for a couple weeks every three months so have not progressed much further with that at the moment but I have managed to find a part harness that plugs in to the camera.

If I do manage to get it working I will post the details.

Cheers
Col
