Entertainment system cutting out - temp fix!

Like other members, my car is suffering from the entertainment system cutting out for a few seconds at random intervals and I've come across a temporary fix.

It's simple, works and is a bit of a pain in the bum.

Simply select TV settings and change the country from the UK to USA. I know it sounds strange, but it works.

You never know, LR may even come up with a slightly more formal fix in the near future. .

There is absolutely no substitute for a genuine lack of preparation.

This has just started happening to my car. Entertainment system cuts out every ten to fifteen minutes with a large static like click. The audio options (DAB, CD etc) grey out and portable audio is temporarily renamed 'Aux'. Lasts between 2 and ten seconds regardless of selected audio source. It seems to be getting more frequent with time - my wife captured a video of it cutting out on my phone as in for a service next week and warranty runs out at the end of September. I am determined to get this fixed on LR's account - but it sounds like it will be dismissed as another 'feature'.

Issue:
Customer failure mode is an intermittent 1-2s loss of audio in any source, which then recovers but can happen multiple times.
The occurrences may vary depending on location and proximity to transmitters in the UK.
Cause:
The issue first occurred on Wednesday 28th August and corresponds with a change in the UK Broadcast for TV Electronic Programme Guide (EPG) feature.
This issue appears only to affect vehicles fitted with the Lear Hybrid TV module.
The broadcast causes the TV module to carry out a reset which results in a temporary loss in audio, irrespective of which audio function is being used e.g. (Radio, CD, etc).
Action:
As a temporary measure and with customer approval it is possible to mask this drop out by setting the TV region to USA. However, this does prevent the TV from operating but provides a quick although temporary fix until a more permanent resolution can be found.
1. No parts are to be changed in an attempt to resolve this issue.
2. Disable TV by selecting USA region from the touchscreen
3. It is essential to perform a successful shut down of thevehicle electrical system, by ensuring the ignition system is off and not used for a minimum of 5 minutes. This ensures the TV records this as a 'last good state' and that the new region is stored when the vehicle is powered on.
4. This is a temporary solution until permanent fix can be established. JLR will communicate this permanent fix as soon as possible.

A much better description of the problem and far more comprehensive understanding of why changing the country setting on the TV works as a temporary fix.

All good. .

Mine has just started doing this. In light of comments above I think I'll not take it in to dealers until LR have worked out what to do. Any update on the permafix would be much appreciated. Rod

Hmmm - so Arquiva is going to change the way the EPG is broadcast across the whole of the UK because the current system is crashing some dodgily programmed TV receivers in Land Rovers?

Call me a sceptic but....

Sounds like a fix may be a while.

I wonder what Ofcoms viewpoint about interference is. Do they want the broadcaster or the receiver manufacturer to be held responsible Thumbs Up MY11 RRS HSE

Update- the temp fix has been applied but dealer says LR are still working on the permafix. My name is now on the (lengthy) list at the dealer to be notified when the solution is arrived at. Rod

Ofcom caused the problem, well the government really!

They sold off the 800mHZ frequency to the 4G boys and the Freeview boys had to move.

Google Freeview and 4G and you will find lots of info. 2023 P440e SE Dynamic on order -cancelled

Phew, I'm pleased to see this thread. I thought I was going mad.

I had thoughts of another dealer fob off as I explained I thought my audio unit had developed a fault.

And that also explains why have my channels at home have gone.

Thanks Thumbs Up
