First of all may I say thank god this site exists I have had my RRS 06 for almost a year now and every time I needed any assistance or help everyone here was very helpful.

I need the more of the same RRS 06 has done approx. 73k miles service book shows full service history the last one is showing Full and also (rear disc's & pads)

Their is a sticker in the car showing next service 78k or 1st October not a problem my only concern is I have checked with the last service station in Shipley they have quoted me £250.00 ex vat.

I then contacted Farnells Bradford they have quoted me £315.00 inclusive both prices seem fine, until the lady at Farnells stated that I may need the Cambelt changing.

I did ask if that needed to be done now and all she said is that they must advise of this, price for the service including the belt approx. £950.00

Now would anybody be able to shed some light on this for me please do I need to change the belt or is this another way of tying to get more money out of me.

Your advise would be greatly appreciated.

Not an expert on Diesels but Iv`e read on here 7 years or 1??k miles are the trigger points.Can the last garage that stamped the book confirm whether the belts have been changed ? Again the costs seem to add up to what previous threads have mentioned. Sorry not a lot of help really am I.

There are 2 belts cam belt and HPFP belt at the rear of the engine, both should be replaced at 105000 or 7 years it's upto you weither you get them changed but 3/4 hundred pounds and piece of mind, or pos £7000 plus for replacement engine if the cam belt let go. 2008 G4 RRSport TDV8 current

TDV6 engines require the cam belt and fuel pump belt replaced at 105k or years, whichever is sooner. I doubt anyone would have paid to change the belts early on your car so it needs doing. There are a few threads on here and the D3 forum detailing people's close shaves with worn belts, even when sticking to the service intervals. Get them done!
There are plenty of independents around who will do the belt service at around the £350-500 mark, (plus the rest of the service). Some say don't worry about the fuel pump belt, which is actually the more expensive, but I had ours done as Sod's law says if it goes you'll be in the outside lane of the M25 with a BMW/Audi/Merc racing up behind you at 95mph and you'll have no power and nowhere to go...
Another thing to consider is the tensioners etc and to make sure it's all included. There's plenty of info on here a quick search will throw up.
Just get the belts changed ASAP!

I've just had belts and service done on mine today in Sheffield for £600 at an Indy. Where in Yorkshire are you, I'd highly recommend them - they are doing other work too

Over towards leeds i got a price for the belts from an indy in Skipton pricing is as follows :

Front Belt £75 ex vat
Rear £48 ex vat

Front labour £175 ex vat
Front & Rear labour £210 ex vat

Total Front £300.00
Total Front & Rear £399.60

The indy is Clarkson 4x4 LTD

Sorry forgot to mention the service which is £300 inclusive

Would like to know the Sheffield Indy would save atlease £100.

It's a place called sheffield prestige, have a look on their website. It's sort of in central sheffield not far from the bramall lane if you know it. It's worth giving them a call and mentioning what prices you've got and the fact u live up there
