was driving a 325i with some basic 17'' wheel/tyre size and it reminded me of the good old days when approaching a speed hump didnt involve closing your eyes and hoping for the best

if im going down from 285/35/22 to a set of 20s, will i notice much difference between 40s and 45s?

cant take the harsh ride quality anymore especially when the wheels are replicas and i dont trust replicas.
wouldnt mind any extra mpg and the thought of avoiding premature wear to busshes/ball joints etc (something im plagued with at the moment) 07 TDV8 + BAS map

you will notice that a 45 series will ride better than a 40 series but if you have 275/35/22 now the 40s on 20 innch rims will be a big improvement

I'm thinking of fitting 275/45 x 20 when mine are due for replacement to improve the ride a bit. I'd be interested to know how much difference it will make. I'm in the shed, I'll be back in the real world in a minute.

Went from 275/40/20 Contis to 275/45/20 General GT and there is a definite improvement in ride quality.

Had it serviced at the dealers with the 275/45 on and they did not make an issue of it despite having rotated the wheels when it was in the shop. 12MY RRS 3.0 SDV6 HSE Lux Sumatra / Black + contrast/ Grand Black

Has anyone running 275/45/20 had any issues with rubbing? Thinking of fitting this size when my current tyres are shot just for a bit more pothole protection. Annoyingly i got rid of a set of almost new 275/45/20s when i sold my D3 last year

I run 285/50/20 with very minimal rubbing at full lock.

I've had the 275/45 x 20's fitted (Yokohama advan) and it definitely rides better now. I'm in the shed, I'll be back in the real world in a minute.

I've recently changed from 19" wheels with Hankook Ventus tyres to 20" Stormers with 275/45R20's on.

The handling and ride is significantly worse. The 20" wheel and tyre combination is quite a bit heavier and the additional unsprung weight is very obvious in the steering and ride. Probably not helped by the Cooper tyres fitted to the wheels which I understand are a heavy tyre.
