2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

The wing vents are purely cosmetic on Evoque, New RRS and L405 FFRR - the air intakes are cleverly integrated to the wing tops in the shade of the bonnet lid to give added protection when deep wading - the other thing this new location does is to reduce the amount of air that the engine can breath.........

Regarding the Bonnet top vents - they are also cosmetic for most models but I would imagine that they help dispate heat from the S/C model. If you look closely the bonet vents have a tiny cut-out in the metalwork of the bonnet, not big enough to do anything except let dirty water trickle onto the top of the engine and stain the engine cover! Have had them for 2 years on my Evoque. These vents do so little on the Evoque that LR engineered in a lower, narrow intake in the front bumper to aid cooling. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

The bonnet vents were going to be the air intake.

But then it was noticed that when wading, water went over the bonnet into the intakes and you can imagine the next range of issues. They were too far along to remove them and people liked the bonnet ones apparently, so they stayed.

The side ones are for design continuity

Hence why they are cosmetic Thumbs Up

As an aside - the air is taken in in the void in the bonnet and the whole set up is identical to its little sister, the evoque. Mike

Interesting that they still considered the wading aspect when they must know that the nearest most LR products get to deep water is being sat next to a washing bucket on a weekend. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

They still design them with capability in mind - regardless of peoples actual use. Mike

What is the reason for not allowing the SE to have low range? 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
