2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Fuji White
Varta Battery

Hi, Have seen various posts re batteries but does anyone know if a Varta Silver H3 (100ah, 830cca) would be OK for a 2005 RRS 2.7 Diesel ??..........Existing one is LR spec 90ah, 825cca but assume the extra 10ah won't hurt and won't affect alternator etc ??
Varta Silver H3 available for £86 delivered so seems good value - hopefully someone out there has had/got one and can advise ??
Thanks
Paul R.

Welcome Smile

There was a recent post on here about a larger 'ah' being bad for the alternator, (The battery in question was for a TDV8) see here:

The current one is now the AGM type which is why it is so expensive but it should last longer than the older conventional type. The original battery is 95 AH; going to a higher capacity is not usually a good idea as it puts a greater demand on the alternator.

This is the standard fit...

£81.47 and you would appear to be on our doorstep!

The larger amperage battery is also longer. Paul Redding

Thanks for that Steve, I had already looked at a Bosch S4 013 but it is also slightly different to the LR spec as it is 95ah and 800cca. It doesn't get used a great deal in the winter so I guess I should have at least the LR recommended 825 cold cranking ability...........but if I get any other comments recommending the S4 I will be in touch !!
Thanks

S4013 is perfectly adequate for your car, if you are going on Land Rover specification that has now changed to an AGM battery.

CCA and lack of use are not related, the battery will stand and hold it's charge unless something else is at issue and if that is the case you will have a flat battery whatever the CCA is. Paul Redding
