I recently decided I wanted to start a watch collection, having always had one decent watch.....now I have 4!

3 of which are automatic so I bought this watch winder

Thing is, even on max (1700 rotations a day), the watches still stop if not worn for a week or so......is this right? I thought the whole point was so they are ready to go whenever?

Also if any one has any decent watches they are trying to flog cheap let me know!

I currently have a Rolex deepsea, Breitling Bentley, Tag Monaco and a relatively cheap one but I liked it!

I've only ever used the rapport winder and I found it to be ok but nothing substitutes wearing the watch.

It definitely wound my breitling chronomat evo more efficiently than my daytona. 2011 Evoque Si4 Dynamic plus lux

There are some watch 'experts' that do not condone the use of winders as some versions can wear out the movement too quickly!... they were primarily developed for watches with complicated movements, which can be a pain to set up once stopped..... modern movements are easy to set up when they stop.... go figure

dont bother with a winder, i was told this by several watch smiths as mentioned above they wear out the movemnt quicker and they said not to worry about the oil inside congeling or anything it rearely happens and if it does its after years of not wearing ,
its like having the wheels on your car turning when not been used , your bearings and things will wear out quicker , and its quicker and cheaper to replace the oil in your car than to do the bearings and gear box .
when he put it to me like that it made perfect sense to me only the dead truely know peace,

I wanted them ready to wear at any time, I can't be bothered re-setting the date and time every time......again today the Breitling had stopped after 3 days in the winder....very annoying
