Hole by interior lights near rear view mirror

Just noticed a hole had been taped up near by the interior lights between the rear view mirror? No idea why and what it is for? Any ideas is it a fault or something missing that needs fixing?

That sounds to be we're the ambient light would be, low glow led that lights up the dash at night

Thanks for that so suppose there supposed to be a led build in there? Or something I have a pic in my gallery of it!
