cars gone mad

Got the rrs out last night after it had been parked up for about 1 week in the garage and put it on the drive. Went to go out in it about one hour later and the thing has gone mad. It wont turn over the lights are flashing the clock is going round the hazards are on and so are the wipers. The remote does no longer work and the tailgate wont open. Censored . So i put the c-teck on it and leave it all night and in the morning its back to normal. Do i need a new battery are what do you think? Cars booked in this thursday. SVR 2018 in Santorini Black.

I saw this once on X Files - it always happens when aliens land nearby - something to do with the large magnetic field involved when abducting humans. Nothing to worry about, should be fine soon.

I'd also check out the alternator in the meantime just to be on the safe side. Thumbs Up FF 4.4 V8 Soooo looking forward to this bad boy

Update. Gone to pick the car up, they have had it for a week, any way they say the problem was that i had wired my C-TECK wire to the positive and the other to the negative polls on the battery. The negative should go to the body some where so this confussed the battery and thats why things went mad. Sounds wrong to me as its been like that for two years and when this happened the charger had not been on the car for around two months. Oh so i have to pay them for putting it right. Any way go to get in the car and guess what it wont start battery warning light is now on. So have left it there again wtf are they doing they say its been fine all week . Demand your money back and take the car somewhere else. The only reason that vehicle manufacturers advise connecting the charger's negative lead to the chassis instead of the battery's negative terminal is to minimise the risk of creating sparks which might cause a freely gassing battery to explode in your face; (and that can't happen if always connect/disconnect the charger when it is switched off) It has nothing to do with 'confusing the battery'.

How could a battery get confused? That's just absurd.

The first that should have been done is check the battery's voltage is over 12 volts and charge it off the car and then check to see if it holds a charge. A loss of more than 0.1 volt overnight suggests it is failing. Secondly - check the alternator output. Basic stuff. What were they doing for a WEEK? 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

Talk to your dealer, he will put your mind at rest and state it's a "characteristic" of the vehicle Whistle In Spain - 2018 F Pace - Frightened away from the Sports due to crank failures

Name and shame. Which garage told you all of that rubbish? We will all want to avoid them in the future. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed
