turbo replace

Has anyone experienced having to have a new turbo fitted to RRS. Is it as big a job as the mechanic has mentioned to me. Any tips etc before I give the go ahead.

It's a body off job I believe on the TDV8. So it gets pricey in terms of labour charges. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

TDV8 is body off.

Before jumping to that though, why does it need a turbo? If it is a seized actuator, both sides can be replaced, or freed off without removing the body Thumbs Up

The diagnostic showed up as being the turbo that wasn't performing to full extent. Its strange because the car was sounding really throaty when accelarating and was slight loss of power.
Once the mechanic put it on the diagnostic, the fault cleared and it seems fine now. The mechanic told me to keep eye on oil and watch for smoke.
How will I know if its the turbo or the actuator. I really don't want the full body off and a bill of over 3K.
ANY IDEAS. ?

Does your RRS not have a warranty? Did you buy it from a non-LR garage? 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
