Isn't anything an excuse ? Owners' manual states only Land Rover approved accessories should be plugged into cigarette lighters. I guess a phone charger or Sat Nav power lead would invalidate your warranty unless approved by LR ?

So far, the EGR valves are the only thing that they've not tried to blame on the new wheels, but it's probably only a matter of time....

Assuming it's fused I really can't see what the difference would be, a wire's a wire (as long as it's the correct gauge). Makes me wonder if these people are actually qualified to work on cars in the first place, or simply blinkered and behaving as they're told to even though they know better.

Hi guys,

Sorry to bring this one up again, but the problems with my car have finally been sorted, after owning it for 15 months, so I thought I'd mention the cause of the anti-skid problem, just in case anyone else has it.

I ended up buying another set of genuine 20" wheels and tyres for the car, and the ant-skid problem was still present, so the dealer could no longer blame it on the 22" rims.

After numerous trips back to see them, they clearly weren't interested in doing anything further, as they could find nothing unusual in the diagnostic codes, so every time, I got the car back in the same condition.

To cut a very long story short, I eventually set up my phone on the dashboard and took a video of me driving 2 complete laps of a local roundabout, with the anti-skid running continuously until I turned off the roundabout and the steering passed back through the straight ahead position, which always fixed the problem until the next time.

Having seen the evidence, they eventually conceded that there was a problem and took the car in again for a week, after which they called me and said that they hadn't been able to recreate the problem themselves and there were still no diagnostic codes showing.

I went back to the dealership and took their senior technician out for a 15 min drive, during which I was able to get the anti-skid to activate and show him the symptoms, so he immediately said 'looks like a steering position sensor problem', which I believe was mentioned quite early on this post by one of the other guys.

Two days and one new steering sensor later, the problem has been cured, so if anyone else suffers these symptoms, hopefully this may point you in the right direction. (Just be prepared to video the problem though, as your dealer probably won't believe you!!!).

Thanks for all the original suggestions and congratulations to whoever diagnosed the problem without even seeing the car.

Only picked up on this late on in the game.....
Had the same response from Slippery Salmon with Fullfat. Having had the 22" wheels on the Sport with no issues, seemed strange that they blamed the wheels this time. Turns out the Fullfat has torque converter issue and nothing to do with wheels...... Now have new converter and drives fine on 22's. any excuse to get out of it.
 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀
TDV8 Sport HSE...... Gone. Loved it but it didn't love me!!
Now rolling in MY10 Fullfat TDV8 Vogue. Slammed it to go round corners🙈

Ah, at last someone with the same issue when going around roundabouts or corners. Took mine to the dealer last year and they couldn't find anything wrong with it. Eventually they reset the steering angle sensor as they couldn't find anything else wrong. The problem did appear to go away or not be such an issue but I have recently asked my local Kwik Fit to check the wheel alignment again (they have already done this twice before) as I have slight wear to the outside front tyres. Although they claim the wheels are set within tolerance, I asked them to toe out as much as the tolerance will allow to try to reduce the wear. They made a marginal adjustment and since this time the issue on roundabouts has increased, so I have booked it in to the dealer next Tuesday. I will go armed with a print out of your findings so hopefully they will replace the sensor and the issue will go away for good. RRS TDV8 MY2010 Stornoway Grey

Just to update, went to the dealer who couldn't find any error codes and they checked the wheel bearing which was ok as apparantly a worn wheel bearing can cause this issue. Advised dealer that it could be steering angle sensor and they agreed to change.
When it went in for the sensor change, they checked for fault codes again and checked wheel bearing again, only to find wear in it. They changed the wheel bearing and the fault does apper to have gone or certianly much less apparant (slight wheel shake has also disappeared which I had put down to poorly balanced 22's).

Oops, it was obviously wishful thinking when I thought the issue had gone away. DSC light is still illuminating on corners.

Spoke to dealer who has now agreed to change steering angle sensor as per an earlier conversation I had with them.

If you have uneven wear and the stability control kicks in on roundabouts, then that suggets your suspension alignment is totally out or soemthing is worn such that when laterally loaded it causes the alignment to be totally out.

Did Kwik Fit do a full 4 wheel alignment using something like the Pro Align system? Did they set tight tolerance mode?

I wouldn't be suprised to find your wheel alignment is wrong and that you have something like an excessively worn suspension arm bush

I still think you have a wear issue somewhere. A sensor problem might cause the DSC issue but obviously not the tyre wear.

The RRS seems to consider suspension bushes to be consumable items. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

What was the fix with the egr valves? I've had mine for a month and it does that squeak on every shutdown. Reading on here, it may be normal but seems not everyone has the same level of noise? Cheers, Steve

Been reading this thread with interest,,,,, especially the whining noise when the engine is turned off,, always wondered what it was. Mine will whine for a few seconds but is only noticeable if you stand right in front of the car when outside or its in the garage,,, not noise at all 2010 RRS, TDV8
