RRS or FFRR for similar money?

Not to be controversial and I have a RRS on order for late oct delivery.
However as I am pondering over the £81,500 list price of the AB SDV6 I have specced with few options, the FFRR vs RRS question is cropping up again.
I initially put a deposit in Sep 12 for a FFRR I was in no rush as I wanted to see what the new RRS would bring.
The look is better, the handling and performance too. However pushing north of £80k one has to wonder it that is really the right territory. I specced a dynamic and even if one tries to be reasonable it still gets to £75k rather quickly.
Clearly LR is pushing both models up however for few £ks more, is the FFRR a sounder choice?
Looks OK if not as good as RRS at least front and sideways, rear unresolved on both cars. Interior finish better, RRS lower parts not as plush for sure for door panels, dashboard and side of centre console.
Handling definitely more car like on RRS.
I am asking the RRS forum so expect some bias however would love to hear opinions

If I was in a position to be spending that much, it would be on a FFRR, the new shape RRS isn't that appealing to me and I think my money would go on a FFRR instead Wink ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

Interesting thoughts as I'm going to be chopping in my L405 FFRR for a RRS in Oct. I've had my V6 Vogue since May and have loved it although I think I'm going to enjoy the Sport more. The drive is definitely more enjoyable in the Sport and being as that is where it'll spend 95% of its life I'd rather get more pleasure from a rewarding drive than the extra plushness of the interior.

The fact I'm swapping my poverty spec (if any FFRR can be called that!) for a Autobiography Sport speaks volumes for me too. Personally I don't see the £20k premium between the two models, hence I'd rather put my £70-80k into a high spec sport than a lower spec FFRR. The only regret I'll have is the split tailgate - I do love that on the FFRR.

I'm with BC - FFRR for me too. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Having driven both, there is no way I would spend that sort of money on the RRS. The two areas where I think the old FFRR lacked (shape and handling) have been greatly improved in the new model. OK the engines were vastly different (MY13 FFRR with SDV8 and MY14 RRS with SDV6) but performance aside, I still find FFRR to be way better than the RRS overall. To me the only thing that would go in favour of the RRS would be the price difference which isn't too big if you spec it "right".

4 to 1 in FFRR, must admit I was expecting more of a split crowd.
Dickie: would love to hear more about your reasons for switching. Cost of selling out FFRR is hopefully pretty low.

Playing with the configurator, I really struggle to get a SDV6 dynamic much lower than £77k and that's not including RSE, 22in wheels or other niceties, does include 5+2 tho.
So price gap to a FFRR like for like in terms of eqpt is 5-7k. Meaningful but if you go AB on RRS then really not that much.
Handling of RRS is awesome tho. Of course if one considers the only way to go on FFRR is SDV8 then the gap is a lot bigger Shocked

With the state of the roads in the UK these days, added to the high traffic numbers and high levels of speed enforcement, handling seems less of an issue than ride comfort to me. The FFRR is much less "boaty" than it was in previous versions so the old "wallowing ride" argument is less applicable. after calling in to my local dealer this morning and having a look at the new MY14 RRS, as nice as it is up close instead of a photo, I think i would still be more tempted by the new shape FFRR

I don't see myself driving a FFRR yet, so my vote goes to the RRS. Pricewise there's quite a difference here so that helps too Wink
