To clean/polish or not to clean/polish that is the question

Much as I hate having a dirty car I dislike the act of cleaning/polishing it just as much. The dirt usually wins out so I clean and polish, which with Zermatt Silver is a bit of a trial as, despite the effort, and I do put in a shift, it does not really leap out as having been hit with the various polishes/waxes etc I have lavished upon it. So the question is, is it worth it, clean and shiny v dirty and muddy, what's the true state of being for the RRS.

Life is too short to waste it cleaning an object that will, the next time it is driven, be dirty again.

I fear I may be in the minority in here though... Rolling with laughter 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

silver is one of those colours that will never really "pop" even when mega polished i had same trouble with me bmw but even that said it did look alot better after and you have to remember a good polish and a wax protects the car so yout pride and joy will last longer . and if every few month you put a good cleaning day in the weekly one only takes half hour or so , so its not so much of a chore. only the dead truely know peace,
Bootneck its not a job its a way of life!

It's horses for courses to be honest, I like a clean car and enjoy spending a little time keeping my P&J looking nice, others don't.
Neither is wrong, but I can sleep safe in the knowledge that people don't think I'm minging when they see my nice clean RRS Whistle Rolling with laughter ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

hate waxing, but when I do, my chest is nice and smooth . . . .

plus, when I wax my orange RRS it really does bring out a very deep gloss finish - it looks a different car when waxed  RR Sport Supercharged Vesuvius Orange 4.2 V8 First edition

Prefer RR Vouge S/C but they don't do Orange !

A latex wrap, now there's a thought. Would be soft to the touch (so I believe) and the water would just run off it Very Happy

Mud and dirt are two different things, mud cool...dirt ugly.

That said cleaning it properly and keeping it clean is easier than poor cleaning.

I tell the dealer not to clean it...whatever they use + incompetence and time targets mean the car is always harder to clean Censored

Mud with no dirt is "designer" and thus sad. Now, how you differentiate between mud and dirt...?

So do I. Which is why I don't do it.

My view is that there is no sadder sight than a perfectly clean 4x4. It's the equivalent of a spray tan on silicone ti Censored ts... 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
