Manifold pressure sensor - source of all sorts of errors

Started the car on Wednesday night and got loads of faults on the dash, first time I saw any error messages in this car. They included park brake fault, transmission fault - limited gears available, HDC fault - system unavailable etc. and the suspension also dropped to access height. Given that the car hadn't been driven for a few days and I had recently hardwired a Blackvue 500, I immediately thought about the battery, having read on the forum that similar faults are thrown when the battery is dying. Arranged LR Assistance visit for next day and guess what's the first thing he checks ... battery voltage Laughing Secondly he asked me to check if all brake lights came on while he pressed the brake pedal, again predictable as these guys probably see these issues everyday. He plugged in his diagnostics kit and found the manifold pressure sensor to have logged some fault code. He checked the electrics and there was no output from the sensor. He then took the sensor out, sprayed it with carburetor cleaner and reconnected it but that didn't fix it. Lastly he replaced it with the sensor from his own Discovery and all the faults disappeared. He ordered one through a local dealer and fitted it the next day. All is fine since then Thumbs Up

Just thought I'd share this because to me this was an unlikely culprit (people normally find the battery, alternator or brake switch/bulb to be the cause). Seems anything electrical is capable of throwing the same messages on the dash Rolling Eyes At least the fault code on computer was accurate.
