Lower Mill Estate, Cotswolds

Just returned from a week here http://www.lmeluxuryholidays.com/ and wish I could of found some reviews before I went - £1500 and a caravan sat in storage - give me a break Big Cry

Arrived to discover one parking place allocated for 2 cars and not near property either so disabled parent had to walk to and from car park - second car had to be left in overflow car park miles away and ended up getting its door knocked by careless owner next to it. Space was fine during week but at weekend when full it was impossible to open doors when parked the spaces are so small - even the mini would have struggled never mind a RRS Evil or Very Mad

Fridge was iced up and dirty so we had to deal with it as food was warm. Broken dishwasher runner. Dirty oven, pans dishes and cutlery. 2 Dining chairs were unsafe to use. Broken blinds to bathrooms that you could see in at night when the lights were on. Broken lock to bathroom window. Broken Hoover. Dirty outside furniture. Stained carpets. Tired decoration and cracks throughout. Key kept jamming to front door and would of been unable to open if a fire had broken out during night. We waited four days for the handyman to come and look Shocked

Balcony had a table and chairs but was too small to eat outside Rolling Eyes

Some residents enjoyed sitting out until well into the early hours of the morning night after night laughing and shouting so we either closed the windows and baked or were kept awake by the noise. Security came and advised us it was against the rules to hang towels on the balcony even though we hadn't though Sad

Internet appeared to be included when we booked but was actually extra and once paid discovered only one device at a time was allowed to use and kept having to log back in every 10 minutes due to constant loss of connection Banging Head

Site roads are very narrow with boulders either side which resulted in chaos unless you could back up - when you couldn't you ended up wedged and risked scratching your car - and considering it was only a week old I sort of wanted to avoid that Whistle

The estate shop had a sign advising when open but this was a complete waste of time as it opened when they wanted not when advertised. The Spa and estate were more like a kids playground than a relaxing retreat - I have 3 (now teens/20's) but they would not have been wandering around on bikes and in the pools unattended when they were as young as the many we saw. I spoke to one owner who has been there 8 years and she was far from happy with the place now Big Cry

This is described as "NATURAL, RELAXING, LUXURIOUS - THE ULTIMATE HOLIDAY ESCAPE" but I found it completely the opposite Yawn

Customer service ends the minute you pay the balance I'm afraid. I did not use a credit card due to the surcharge but kicking myself now Thud

Noticed a few RRS's, FL2's and a new FFRR so hoped you had a better time if you're on here but I wont be going back Bow down Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

As far as the ultimate Mr Unlucky title goes sadly I think poor Simple1 deserves that more than me Big Cry

To balance things my new RRS is a dream - it was a pleasure driving down and because we had such an awful week driving back too Laughing

Sounds like a very suboptimal experience Muddy. Thanks for letting the rest of us know - should save others from possibly wasting their cash.

We tend to rent cottages / houses / castles from the Landmark Trust. Not so good for the kids if they like to have the full raft of electronic toys. No TV and no phone. Mobiles sometimes work but not always. However, if you like a relaxing holiday and a base to go out each day to see stuff then they're great. They have everything from 2 bed cottages up to 16 bed country houses. They have a couple in the US and a couple in Italy too.

We stayed in Kipling's house in Vermont and I read Jungle Book in the study in which he wrote it. I realised I'd never read it as a kid. Enjoyed the book especially reading it there.

We tend to eat and drink much too much during our stays - lots of time for food and bottles of wine when there's no telly etc. to distract you.

2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Always a nightmare when you book something that seems to tick all the boxes, you look forward to the relaxing trip and it turns out to be substandard.

I have a couple of suggestions;

1: Trip Advisor - If I were in your position I’d take the time to write a quick review and post it on Trip Advisor. The other party have a right of reply on this but if they are offering a poor customer experience then you having paid your hard earned cash, deserve to express an opinion. It might also help others avoid such an experience.

2: Next trip – Given your experience I’d suggest trying a nice hotel next time, perhaps Fawlty Towers!!!

Sorry Muddy, but if it takes a tin snail off the road then it's a good outcome in my book Whistle Rolling with laughter

Seriously, they do have some interesting properties. We go at least once a year for a week at a time. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

This trip was probably my first long run solo in 3 years and never held up by caravans - plenty of tractors and wagons side by side on dual carriageways doing the same speed though Banging Head Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW
