Anyways, was having a chat with my indi and mentioned the fact that sometimes, there's this juddering/jerking that occurs when the RRS is pulling off. He advised me that changing the gear box oil and filter has been known to cure this. So I asked him how much this will cost me, and he quoted me £492 inc vat! Madness! I think I will just have to live with.

Get some Dr Trannys two tubes from here and stick it in your gearbox when the oil is warm you might need to remove some oil to fit it in.

The ZF 6HP26 box can suffer lack of shutter lock in the torque converter, common when your oil is over 50k miles.

Try a tube of Dr Tranny in it (we sell loads for D3s, its a well documented fix)

If it works then it's telling you new oil time, cant tell what you are driving but most likely you need £100 worth of oil then a choice of filter/sump type.

Funny that, my Vogue is doing something similar more like a slip in drive but according to Guy Salmon there is nothing wrong. It doesn't like pulling away or accelerating with trailer/caravan on the back. 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀
TDV8 Sport HSE...... Gone. Loved it but it didn't love me!!
Now rolling in MY10 Fullfat TDV8 Vogue. Slammed it to go round corners🙈

I had mine done by an indie for £190 incl.

I am in the process of sorting out the importation of a Transmission Flush machine, hopefully sometime in August there will be a mobile option within the site sponsors, so correct oils, and other work at the same time if needed. Paul Redding

I Think I read (I think on the Disco 3 forum) that you can get a "better" metal sump for the auto box, that allows you to change the filter separately. In Spain - 2018 F Pace - Frightened away from the Sports due to crank failures

Gents, I ve been told that our gearboxes are a sealed for life and don't touch them. This also includes the supercharger oil. Have I been told porkies by land rover?

"Sealed for life" is open to interpretation

The life of the car?
The life of the gearbox?
The life of the oil?

If it's the life of the gearbox, then it's too late.
If it's the life of the oil, I would want it done sooner, before the oil is completely
If it's the life of the car, why is there a replacement interval of 150k miles/10 yrs?

IMHO, around 100k miles it should be replaced

I believe that ZF themselves now suggest that the transmission oil should be changed 80-120k km depending use. So if you run at high speed or tow regularly or go off road then you need to consider changing the transmission oil more regularly than the 10 years given by LR in the maintenance schedule. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed
