Simples in depth problems has put me kind of off the TDV8 but not fully yet, this seems to be quite a reliable engine in the FullFats strangely enough. My 4.4V8 I would have thought would have been reliable but the BMW engine is far from it but I believe the 4.2 Supercharged is good. |

The V8 is a great engine, but it only has problems in the Sport for some reason, it is 99% reliable in the Fullfat for some reason. The V6 has its known issues with heater plugs, oil and tensioner issues but generally reliable. There are plenty of V8 Sports that go on and on without issue. Mine has been carefully looked after but as it sits for long periods of time unused, am sure this has contributed to six turbo failures and the demise of the engine. If you buy, chose a good dealer, as any problems you may have you will be relying on them to fix. If its a crap dealer it makes the problem 80 times worse 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀

Cheers Simple1. I've read your posts and that is probably forefront in my mind. There was talk on the FFRR forum about the TDV8 affected by heat due to the lump being squeezed into the RRS compared to the FFRR but I don't know.

As stated here and on Fullfat, I had a V8 Vogue petrol for three years, never had one issue and did 63000 hard miles. The car I am looking at to replace Sport is a TDV8 Fullfat that has had one £14.50 seal relplaced as its warrantee history so proves a point, LR have triped up somewhere with Sport design 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀

Had the 4.2 V8 petrol for 3 years now - apart from servicing only spent £15 on a temp sensor. Either I have been lucky or there`s a point to prove. My mileage averages 12.9 mpg but who cares 16MY Estoril Blue SVR.............
