The Pike's Peak challenge is called "Faster", looks like we've got "Deeper" (at the Dead Sea), "Higher" (Himalayas) and "Colder" (Pole of Cold ) to come Like this site? Buy some RRSPORT goodies to show your support! |

I drove from Colorado Springs (6035') to Cripple Creek (9494') and Victor (9708') in October 1972. The US Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs generously lent my crew two GM staff cars, which were gasping for breath half way up Pikes Peak. We enjoyed a few beers in Cripple Creek, tried gold panning (unsuccessfully) and then set off down the unpaved (murram) roads, which were very slippery in places due to melted snow. Fortunately we arrived back in Colorado Springs unscathed. It would have been a lot more fun in a RRS
