If you're happy to have a poverty-spec Sport then the new one will fit your budget. If you want to have toys and the ability to tow / go off road "out of the box" then you'll be needing the older Sport. To get a new Sport with a similar spec to the old one you'd need to add £10k to your budget. You'll probably get a better vehicle (yes, I think the new Sport will be a very good vehicle if spec'd correctly) that way but you'll have to pay to get it. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

£55k........... you'd not be a million miles from a new Autobiography. I am away on holiday, therefore if you would like to email Matthew Gurney (Sales Manager @ HGG) then he'll look after you.

Having driven one of the last 4.4 TDV8 Vogue FFRR for a courtesy car last summer for a month I would not be going from a FFRR to a RRS

A Westminster would be nice, that's for sure. A real shame that the 4.4TDV8 didn't fit in the RRS...

Wait for a new one or get an FFRR. The new RRS is going to be streets ahead of the current model in terms of handling and dynamics with its lower weight and not having a ladder chassis. The current RRS is going to look very dated in a few months when the new model is out properly. Remember the current one was conceived in the early 2000s for an 05 release. Gone - 2008 Stornoway Grey RRS 2.7 TDV6

I agree BKHK - I think the new RRS will make the old one feel very old. As most RRS are tarmac queens anyway, the on-road manners will be miles ahead of the current version. Off road, correctly spec'd of course, it will also be excellent thanks to greatly improved clearances and the TR2 system.

Alternative option - save £15k and plump for a mint conditioned 2010/2011 supercharged with all specification boxes ticked. Several available in the 10-25k mile range between £38-£44k.

Or Evoque Look I think its a little more complex - ive not driven it yet granted, but im not sure its going to be lightening better than the current sport on or off road...the current sport is very good - yes i agree it will be improved, even better - but how much and whether this is MASSIVE...im not so sure yet. Weight saving, CO2, MPG improvements are all welcomed and it will be a good car - again im not sure great, it still lacks something on the current sport i feel, to clarify that isnt to say it wont be good in its own right, but will it be as good as the sport was when it was launched. As for the basic spec, or seriously increased price, of the new sport thats a significant negative. Not to mention the design Remember some of the advanced dynamic stuff they go on about is only available in the dynamic or as an option - so when we talk about improved dynamics, that's only if you spend yet more ££ on the new one making the new features/benefits you talk about £15-20k more than what you could currently get for 10k less. At the end of the day, would i buy the current sport or wait for the new one now...i don't know - probably buy something different and wait a year if you pushed me, but if the sport was my option, with the right deal, i would get the current one with a view to changing in 12 months. Given i have had 2 seperate dealer emails trying to get a deposit for the new sport out of me, saying there are slots available....casting my mind back to both the evoque and the last sport launches and not remembering them needing to chase my interest via email - i cant help but feel there is some reservation out there (and/or people dont want to be the test mules). None of that probably helps the OP Mike 2014 Facelift Discovery Last edited by mse on Fri May 24 2013 10:46am. Edited 1 time in total |

I had a similar dilemma to you 6 weeks ago. In the end the sizeable discount I negotiated on a highly specked HSE BLack edition swung it for me and IMO made taking the risk on residuals in a few years time worthwhile |
