So it's basically a LR version of the Audi RS6? Two tonnes of very fast estate car.

Indeed, but the message LR is giving is "our 4x4 is a very fast, big bodied, estate car not an off roader vehicle". They're saying "don't buy a fast Audi or Merc estate, buy a fast LR estate". As I said - more brand dilution. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

A mate of mine has just come back from the Nurburgring and shown me a video of "said" car with it's disguising stickers fitted going sideways round the track. Looks extremely fast!!! 10 TDV8 Santorini |

It really does seem like they are trying to penetrate all corners of the market with the new RRS, but they seem to be moving further and further away from the RR roots, ie a supreme off roader with unprecedented luxury. ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

They're trying to expand to suit as many potential buyers as possible, companies have to make money.

I dont think thats the point...i actively support LR doing what they need to increase market share and not too fussed about them making a quick version. But they should do it with their values in mind, eg luxury and capable 4x4 that is able to do XYZ not at the expense of the core offering. Buy a HSE or a future RS model without the core things (low range, folding seats etc) that make the range rover, dilutes it all - buy them with the things, enhancing the current then im in all hands, feet body etc. Design is important - very, but after form and in line with values and capability...like i say what differentiates it from a merc if its not the most capable vehicle...doesnt have to be used as it, but should be able to do it...
