RRS got bumped into

Last Friday my poor RRS got hit from the rear whilst I was stationary at a junction whilst waiting for an opportunity to move out. I quickly got out and approached the young female driver of the other car, I could tell she was in deep shock and looked very upset, and I kept my cool throughout the whole situation.

After she had calmed down she immediately admitted being at fault, and was travelling at less than 10 mph. Anyway we both exchanged details and left from there.

A few hours after the incident, the other party's insurer contacted me regarding repair of my RRS, and kept on insisting that i use their own approved bodyshop.

However I was not comfortable with this and I instructed my chosen bodyshop to deal with the repair, and are sending out a hire vehicle out tommorow ( sadly not a Range Rover)

Here are some pics of both vehicles:

Sorry to hear this, and you are quite right to insist that your car goes where you want it too and that you have some control over the quality of the repair.
Out of interest, how do you post pics via IPhone? Whistle 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀

Also sorry to hear about this. Looks like she came off worse. Embarassed

In January we were hit down the side whilst staionary in a country lane passing place. The young lady admitted liability at the scene however when the insurance got involved she retracted it so we are now in a situation where it looks like we are off to court.

With regards the repair, I was instructed on which garages to go to otherwise I had to pay a "non-approved repairer excess" which was hidden in the small print. Not too bothered as I didn't have to pay anything but the quote went up 75% from the dealer I wanted to use and the "approved one".

The whole process should be so straight forward but my insurers (AVIVA) have been absolutely shocking. Thank goodness for protected NCB.

Hope you fare better. 2013 (13.5MY) RRS HSE Black | Causeway Grey | Privacy | Ivory & Ebony | Grand Black Lacquer | Style 7 Alloys | AWESOME

Rwash
This is becoming more common. Aviva, part of Axa with whom I have commercial fleet policy, make some incredible dicissions based on what they think. My son had a minor car park bump which put a thumb sized graze on his bumper, the Audi that hit him suffered £6800 of panal damage and a failed turbo and Axa paid out. On another occasion a guy drove into me while stationary at a roundabout. The car infront pulled away then stopped as I did, guy behind went into my rear and Axa deemed it my fault. Shocked
The insurance industry is a complete mystery and as they don't have to report to anyone, and in my case, my policy premium doubled as a result of these two incidents to over four grand a year with no route to appeal or have justified.

For years I owned a car body repair business but after getting annually screwed by continuing downward hourly rates and having to pass on parts and paint discounts, it became untenable to make any sort of profit when gas, electric and wage overheads were climbing as quickly as prices paid were being forced down. I sold the business rather than continue. 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀

Its worth getting a Blackvue video camera or similar to help sort out some of the scumbag liars out there.
Best policy is to let them tell their tales then present the insurers with the evidence.
£250 or less for peace of mind......

Shocked

The other party's insurer is Aviva. Hopefully I won't have any problems.

Anyway this is the hire vehicle I have been given, a 2011 E220 Cdi:

It certainly is a totally different drive from my RRS. Should be ideal for my trip to Sheffield I have planned this week.

I just used the iphone photobucket app.

Using the app , first I uploaded my camera photos on to my photobucket account, then copy & pasted the IMG code of each pic in my post. 2014 L405 SDV8 RR Autobiography Cool

Thanks for the advice, I have mentioned it to my bodyshop. Thumbs Up

Those 106's are death traps. Shocked Did your RRS suffer from any chassis damage?

Rear chassis outrigger bent (the one that holds the bumper and towhitch)
Spare wheel split
Spare tyre damaged
One side of the exhaust replaced
Paint & labour

And yes, (it was a Saxo but same difference) this was a closing speed of 40mph and I didn't move an inch.

His car actually buried under mine and his steering wheel was on his lap Shocked RRS gone

I'm with admiral as their customer service is appalling and the "like for like" courtesy car only applies if your over 25 so I had a vauxhall meriva to replace my HST...great...not! RRS TDV8 HST
