The bracket is giilty for rotting away and rattling against the chassis
The covers could be full if mud
The retaining clips could be broken
The compressor could be about to die

Is the car rising lowering ok as usual? Any warnings? Disco m knows his stuff so you have a few options to you. Remove the cover and have a poke around.
