Hi guys,

Spoke to the garage today and it wasn't the belts that gave way, it was the oil pump casing breaking or something. Maybe someone could fill me in with what actually happened?

Scotty

Scotty, if it WAS this failure, then this is the same as mine, LR funded a replacement 100%.

I had a mixture of LR and Indi Service stamps in the book. My Timing belt had been changed 1000 miles before the failure.

Give me a call tomorrow. Can you get the garage to take a couple of pics of the failure point, My guess is it will look like this......

Scotty, I think you have to have a go at LRCS on this regardless of the fact of the EGR valves (they aren't related anyway). Engines that have been properly tested and passed as fit for purpose don't fail like this. This doesn't classify in my book as an "acceptable" and "to be expected issue", especially one leaving you with several thousands of pounds to find just to put it right.

I would expect LR to come to the table and at least provide the donor engine. It's worth a letter at least! 2018 RR Velar R-Dynamic, Silver/Ebony, Privacy Glass, lots of toys

Was there any progress on this? Same thing has just happened to my, 64k miles and 2007 RR history and specialist RR service with full RR parts receipts.

Dealer has still not diagnosed Scottys car other than to say there is metal in the oil from conversations I have had with him. 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀
TDV8 Sport HSE...... Gone. Loved it but it didn't love me!!
Now rolling in MY10 Fullfat TDV8 Vogue. Slammed it to go round corners🙈

Hi Guys

The dealer came back to me the other week. Been speaking with simple1 and he has been a great help.

The dealer hasn't been very helpful, basically charging me every step of the way. The current bill stands at £330. They now want to charge £800 ( £100 a hour labor) to investigate further. This involves taking the head off.

i will of course keep everyone updated.

Scotty

My Sport is still with the dealer. The dealer has been first class to date and has forwarded the relevant details to RR Customer Service (tel 0870 5000500) who say they are in conversation with the dealer.

Beg's the question, is it possible to fit the latest oil pump casing to pre 09 cars. In Spain - 2018 F Pace - Frightened away from the Sports due to crank failures
Gone - A couple of RRS, A couple of Disco's. However thinking of another Sport.

Update:

Range Rover has agreed to replace the engine including labour! Fair play to them, they are giving 100% contribution towards a "replacement engine" including labour.

I'm told we should have the car back next week.

Thanks to Diver and Bodsy for the assistance, top guys! Thumbs Up

Yes you can to 07 and 08 engines. Although it tales about 7-1/2 hours, so not a cheap dealer fix..... Bodsys Brake Bible

PJB,

it is down to RR Customer Service really and getting a name and contact there to refer back to if the dealer isn't following up.

The advice from Bodsy was spot on because I Bodsy advised to get the actuator rod checked as well as the brake pipes. needless to say the pipes were worn and need replacing as well as the rear suspension bushions (? I think).

The engine replacement needed the body off and both of the above operations are so much easier to complete when the body is off the car. The dealer said it is labour intensive and the MOT process includes the check on the pipe, needless to say mine would have failed so great advice on here from Bodsy Bow down !

Hey guys

thought i would post an update.

Car is off to Dragon engines based in derby (anyone heard of them). They are going to lift the body and strip the engine as warranty direct have used them in the past.

So it a waiting game again Sad
