TDV6 MPG

Well I've owned my tdv6 for a week now ..... With mixed driving I'm averaging 20mpg. Does this sound right. ?? I was hoping for a little more ..Sad
Looking through the documentation it has been remapped in its life and I was wondering would this explain the 20mpg?

Ramap usually raises the mpg. 20 is low, so I would be looking at EGR issues and checking its service is up to date, air filter and fuel filters are fresh.
I was amazed when changed son's golf TDI fuel filter recently, it was pure black and only six months old and filled at petrol stations. Diesel is full of crud at the moment. 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀
TDV8 Sport HSE...... Gone. Loved it but it didn't love me!!
Now rolling in MY10 Fullfat TDV8 Vogue. Slammed it to go round corners🙈
Cruising daily #56 mph in a Volvo V8. 😱
Lots of other toys in the cupboard...😜

Re: TDV6 MPG

Up until a week ago when I had mine it was averaging 27 around town, a 6 mile run to work and back.
Yours seems low unless you're thrashing it within an inch of its life Shocked

I averaged 20-21 before getting an egr replaced, now get about 23-24

Was told by dealer that other egr needs doing too and is only just about working, when it packs up all together ill get it done under warranty and hopefully will increase a bit more

You will need a dealer with LR diagnostic software to tell you the efficiency of the egr, a normal garage diagnostics will only tell you if its completely knackered and EML is on

Shocked this is looking expensive.. I think I'll drop the oil and filters myself see if there's any improvement... I'm sure I read on here somewhere how to test if egr valves are working... Can't seem to find the post now... I don't think I can blank off being my07 Sad

I've ready been trying to drive steady so it does look like I got a problem somewhere Sad

I lurk around a few forums even though I no longer own the cars which took me to them, i enjoy the read Laughing

Link for northeastern

http://www.northeastern4x4.co.uk/

They are very reasonable as far as service costs are concerned, serviced mine a couple of times.

Hope you get the car sorted, great cars to be in when everything's 100%

Nik, where did yours end up? I iwll be home in a few weeks and want to see if its still there for the taking. Yours ticked all my boxes and the bonus of it being on my doorstep! Current transport : Audi S4 V8 Cabriolet, Suzuki GSXR600 K1
Previous: BMW 535D ACS, Mercedes CLK, Merecdes ML, Honda CBR600.

Sytner Mercedes took it in, think they have a LR dealership somewhere.
Only 'faults' with it were front tyres neading replacing, rear o/s caliper on the way out. Rear pads were binding from time to time putting massive heat through the discs. The new pads that were put in prior to this are probably goosed.
Northeastern 4x4 suggested I replace caliper, discs and pads.

I can give you a contact name at Sytners if it helps.

Well not wanting to speak too soon but... I read another post on here regarding the cleaning of the map sensor, with the only tool required being a t20 driver I set to work.

Omg the amount of crud on the sensor was unreal... Now nice and clean my mpg seems to be improving! I'll keep you'd updated after a few more miles Smile
