DPF - Any New´s..

Hey all of you

Been reading almost every post on the DPF. Issues everyone is struggling with - Any one have any experience with removing it and get away with it. In term´s of fault codes etc.

Wondering if a Super-chip/ Bluefin software is the same on the DPF. Version vs. the Non DPF. Version´s. Also notice that the sound from the exhaust is more quitet with the DPF. Exhaust system.

Best. _____________________________

I do a mixture of town and motorway driving and have never really notice the regeneration. I think a good blast on the motorway every now and then seems to do the trick.
Maybe those that do a lot more urban driving where the exhaust doesn't get up to temperature are those with issues Confused ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

Never had a need to regen on any of mine - hence i dont believe there are any issues.

I bet those who have complained often did not bother to use the correct engine oil.

I'm one of the dumb one that complained and had the regen message come up, once or twice a year.

Always had my car serviced by the LR dealer, using the correct oil as provided by LR.

But probably you know more about my car than me.

Good luck with your bet Rolling Eyes '08 RRS TDV8

I had my light come on once, so i took it for a quick blast down the motoway as it says in the book and it cleared in about 8 minutes @ 4000 rpm.

Sorry I missed a word in my original post (often), making it sound like I blamed anyone who suffers from frequent DPF regens.

I went to a Land Rover dealer and bought a litre of oil for my Sport as standby if topping up needed. I showed them the page from the manual with the correct spec to be used and was sold the litre of oil. After getting home I looked closely at the litre of oil and it was not low SAPs and did not conform to the spec required.

Next I tried a Ford and Mazda dealership (the spec is a Ford spec) and asked for a litre of the correct oil. They did not have any and had never heard of such oil spec. They did say though that owners had lots of problems with their DPF's and were a pain in the Butt.

So because a LR garage services your Sport does not guarantee the mechanic used the correct oil. LR do not provide any oil.

Of course even when using the correct oil a regen would be required if driven as MSE mentioned.

Ive known the INCORRECT oil to be provided by LR.

Its been an issue and LR wrote out to dealers...there was also a supply issue in 2011 and 12 meaning low grade oil was used.

SO i would agree you would expect a dealer to use the correct stuff...but i would guarantee they do, especially in the margins!

Best place to get the oil is a Jag dealer - more of their cars require that spec Thumbs Up

That said LR dealer provided me a l free of charge - but it was out of their drum as even they couldnt get 1l top up's at the time...since then i have a free fluid top up card - any time. Mike

Well, my dealer is a LR and Jaguar dealership, guess I'm screwed then Wink

Yes, I trust my dealer, never had any issue with them.

Do not know if the problem using cheap oil because of the margins is a worldwide issue. '08 RRS TDV8

I should point out to flydive that baby seals oil is not recommended for DPF equipped Sports. Whistle
