Australia 2010 Range Rover Sport 3.0 TDV6 S Zermatt Silver
Darwin to Kangaroo Island

I needed to go to a wedding on Kangaroo Island. I live in Darwin.

Top of Australia to bottom of Australia and the wife couldn't hack having to sit in a cramped airline seat for nearly 5 hours. So, chose to do a road trip and see some of the country in the Sport.

Buggar ll to see from Darwin to Alice (no other alternatives as far as roads go anyway as it's just the Stuart Highway) so did the 1,500klm on 1st day to get that out of the way before heading off the highway and exploring Kings Canyon, Ayres Rock are on the 2nd day.
The roads varied from good gravel(albeit corrugated), through to deep BullDust to very washed out rutted dried mud. Good countryside though.

Ayres Rock and Kings Canyon is worthy of a look. If you get a chance, do the helicopter over Kings Canyon.

The Oodnadatta Track, Coober Pedy and Milpena Pound in the Flinders Ranges stand out as a must if travelling around South Australia.

The end result of the 8,000klm round trip was an utmost respect for the RRSport. The little woman will not travel in anything else. Can't wait for the top of Western Australia around the Kimberley's. 2014 SDV6 HSE, Panoramic Roof, 825w sound, Surround Cameras

Australia 2013 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Fuji White

Awesome! Thanks for sharing.

I've always thought it would be great to do a long distance trip in the RRS... maybe its something I will get round to sometime soon.

Kings Canyon is beautiful as is Palm Valley near there - did you see that? Been a while since travelling Aus that I've been there.

I'm in Melbourne... maybe a trip to the red centre would be a good go! Hmmm... thanks for inspiring me. MY15.5 Fuji White, SDV8 HSE Dyn Stealth Pack

Ahh the Pink Roadhouse, I remember it well! I did a similar trip once but in a helicopter from Melbourne to Darwin via Mildura, Broken Hill, Leigh Creek, Oodnadatta, Alice, Tennant, Elliot, Katherine and finally to Darwin. It took 4 days with headwinds. Gone - 2008 Stornoway Grey RRS 2.7 TDV6
