Wonder if this could be adapted to do more...

Seems like a pretty cool idea. I've exchanged emails with the inventor, and he's pretty sure it'll work on any LR post 1996.

I wonder if it could be "jailbroken" (to steal a term from the apple folks) to do more of what the more expensive IDS and rovetron scanners do.

What say you?

United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Orkney Grey

There are a number of similar devices on the market, yes. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Rimini Red

I use the 12 quid elm327 adaptor from ebay, 12 quid and the torque app on my phone to do realtime sensor checks and find and reset OBD error codes. Has paid for itself in beer token many time over with my neighbours and friends...

It isnt CANbus compatible and wont work all the RRS ecu's but I have the IIDtool to do that Smile

The torque app works with the phones GPS and can record tracktimes and overlay realtime GPS info on a trackrecording app so I can record a trackday event too Smile Why?.. Because i can....
RRS 2006 S/C Rimini Red Weekend toy
Subaru impreza 1998 2.0 340hp still here
Smart car 0.7 61 hp Carbon offset
Sierra cosworth 2.0 350 hp GONE
Various RS escorts, Vauxhall sri's Volvo T5's, BMW 3 series, fiestas (?) fiat's....

That's precisely what I'm looking for...the price of the ~$70 adaptor, with the functionality of the IDSTool. I'm wondering if anyone been brave enough to adapt their current set up to allow such a thing or if its even possible.

I'm sure it's not, but there seems to be so much more flexibility available with these cheaper tools that no one explored yet.

I don't have the know-how to try... '12 RRS SC
