The problem is that just patching a hole by filling it with tarmac is only ever a short term fix. It'll just fail again as water and frost get in to it and from mechanical damage from tyres.

Whole stretches of road need to be relaid, not just resurfaced but relaid. That is very time consuming and thuis expensive. The various highways authorities simply don't have the money to do the work. Govt needs to put much more money in to it...

Totally agree - the silly surface the put on (for us to bed in) is not like a good resurface, which is rarely done any more.

The Highways Agency has also got off lightly - the motorways and main a roads are theres and there are some awful sections of that network - thats direct government!

Another thing they dont mention, granted not critical, but still annoying and a cost - is the stones and associated stone chips...when was the last time you saw a road sweeper cleaning the road - one junction by us you cant see the goats island up to the pedestrian crossing, the debris is building to curb height! lots of stones around Mike

Keep a can of white spray paint in the car! A photo with hole and paint round it will have highway engineers running in circles. Councils latest get out statement is " we were not aware of the pot hole sir, and road was inspected six weeks ago"
Paint shoes the engineer marked the defect Rolling with laughter 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀

I thought once reported they need time to repair, so your white paint idea might scupper your claim Whistle

Once paint round it they are aware it's there which then leaves them liable. Their only get out clause is if they aren't aware. Am not aware they have a timescale limitation to fix it. If its a danger then obviously it needs fixed soon as. 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀

United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Rimini Red

I put in a successful claim against Medway council 12 years ago, they paid out £2500 to replace a wheel, 2 tyres, steering rack and bent shock absorber on my Sierra Cosworth Very Happy

Within half an hour of calling them up, they'd sent a team to fill th epotholes, but I already had taken plenty of picture evidence....

I may be able to help out with a wheel and you are only an hour or so from me in Chatham Why?.. Because i can....

United Kingdom 2005 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Java Black

Just to add insult to injury, have now found out that the bloody spare wheel is a 19inch and not a 20inch as the rest of the car.

Had a result with the man at Kwikfit though, with the help of a rather large club hammer he has managed to reshape the dink back so it now seals again.
However, the opposite rear tyre is showing adverse wear on the inside edge so will now need replacing, looks like a 4 wheel laser alignment will be needed ASAP.

Many thanks to all that have offered advice on this thread, i will definately be putting some of the advice into action over the coming week.

Cheers .. 2005 Rang Rover Supercharged
Loving every minute !
