Police Highway Patrol......er, or is that control vehicles?

I am sure that everybody has seen the Nissan Patrol’s dressed up like police cars, with ‘Highway Somethingorother’ emblazoned all over them. I understand that they are basically stunt police, but are they only reactive or can they stop you for speeding?

Having passed one one on the M25 at modestly above the limit.......I suddenly became a little anxious!

Anybody know?

Oop North, they all drive LC's.

They are there merely to assist the Police, not to enforce the law.

They cannot pull you/film you speeding.

They are merely to help prevent accidents/fatalities for breakdown's etc. Runner up - 2009 Best Avatar Award Sad

On the M4 they use Disco3s.
There are loads of these vehicles about now. I see 4 or 5 of these on each motorway trip and almost never see a police car (unless they are all unmarked now!). Matt

oh your so brave..... they actually do a very good job i travel the M25 every day and see them daily pulled up behind broken down motorists positioning their vehicle and putting out cones to help protect whoever is broken down no doudt a welcome sight for women and familys etc also helpful in organising recovery and tyre companys....a good thing for car drivers who,s cars cant carry a spare Embarassed

Highways Traffic Officers the company I work move these vehicles around for training courses. So you are aware the Traffic Officer can not stop you for speeding but they can notify the Police of such an infringement as they have police radios in the vehicle (so can monitor for accidents and call for assistance etc) Wink "It isn't pollution that's harming the environment. It's the impurities in our air and water that are doing it."

Boring Fart Warning...........

In my limited experience of motorway pounding this leave (3 round trips to the South of Ingerland) these guys deserve a medal for keeping the motorways running smoothly. With their look-a-like Police cars they also have the effect of making those idiots who drive so dangerously and at crazy speeds slow down to more sensible speeds and drive more carefully. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
