I was driving home after work. Started my car and started driving, then the suspension fault light came on. Then about 2 mins later the sat mac screen went black. Then when indicating it wasn't the usual 'tick tock' it kept speeding up and slowing down. Then I got a warning message about the tailgate open. Then it said transmission failure.... Then everything went off except the engine lost all power steering and managed to limp it home. Much to the displeasure of my gf sat next to me....

Am I right in thinking this could be a battery fault a it is over 5 years old.

I've ordered the battery to fit it tomorrow.

I'd get the alternator checked as it sounds like you have some pretty wild voltage fluctuations that the electronics are unable to smooth.

I would start at the battery but as already said, get charging rate checked too. These are funny animals and need stable 14v to keep systems working properly. Over or under charging shuts things down as the voltage regulation is done by the ECU. 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀

Alternator - same symptoms happened on my TDV8 last month. Rovertune did a great job replacing it at short notice.

I Had the same 4 weeks ago....I fitted a new battery and hey presto I was up and running to my trusty LR Specialist garage..BUT on arrival there was a horrendous smell and when we lifted the bonnet the alternator was smoking like hell.
We had to disconnect the battery before it went up in smoke so dont go driving off with a new battery straight away just incase thats not the issue.

My alternator did exactly the same thing, started burning I quickly disconnected the battery and had it taken to our indie for a new one. Luckily the battery was fine, I would get the output checked asap.

New battery fitted... Drove car for about 30mins then it all happened again. Car booked in and battery on charge... Hope it will get me the 20miles to the garage!! RRS Dynamic

My battery has just died too !!!

The day after getting it back atfer the dynamic suspension fault fix !!!

I foolishly thought it would be covered under my extended warranty.....
