Company Car Tax......I've had enough!!

OK so I knew an RRS would be pricey as a company car......I have been used to paying around £800 a month company car tax, until I just recently got told I hadn't been paying enough, got a big lump of a bill and a new tax code.

My take home has just decreased a further £300 a month, meaning my company car tax is in the order of £1100 per month!

I now get less than half my salary!

Censored you tax man! Censored you!

I am seriously considering a change of car to something still nice but easier on the tax.....any suggestions?

Still want a nice luxury car £50K to £80K but not happy paying £1100 a month in additional tax!

Why would you choose a company car when the tax is almost double the cost of just buying the thing privately on PCP or lease? Shocked

It is far cheaper to get a cash allowance than paying the company car tax on these. Bodsys Brake Bible

Why not buy a sport for your own use, and then bill your company for your mileage, i know this won't cover the cost of running a sport but you will still have a sport and you could surrender you fuel receipts to help recoup your running costs. Wink For what you are paying in tax you could buy a sport. Thumbs Up

I know, I might just buy it off the company.

Other than that I was thinking of the new BMW hybrid 7 series?

opting out is the only way!

That's what i did last year and I'm way better off.

I drive a smart car to work Rolling with laughter

And have an Aston / RRS in the garage.

One day the government will work out that if they lower tax there receipts will increase!

I get a modest car allowance & pay the lease on my car - in company name but I pay leasing - that costs only £850 a month !

Are you sure they have got it right ?

As an example if mine was a Company Car _

Fuel BIK on mine would be £20,200 x 35% x 40% = £2,828 - never any point in having a fuel card as BIK is usually more than the cost of the private fuel !

Car BIK on Mine £54,555 x 35% x 40% = £7,638. Only £636.50 per month !!!!

I cannot see yours could be more !

If you want me to check for you send me a PM with car details & I'll let you know the BIK figures etc.

Regards

Can't comment on wedding costs but I opted out and bought my RRS using my cash allowance and also the BIK tax I'm no longer paying on my FL2 that was the company car before. Dumb maaths but effectively for about 100 quid more of my own money I run a RRS compared to having £300 in my pocket and driving a Golf and being bored to death. Laughing Laughing Laughing

Ok fuel cost for 20k miles a year is eye watering but I get most of that back and I drive like a nun Rolling Eyes to not make it even worse but at 70mph the world can wait till I get there!! 2007 FR2 Stornoway Grey and every toy Sad
