Once a lurker, now a newbie

Hi Guys Razz

New to the forum as a member but been lurking for some time now. A great site but sadly one that is about to cost me quite a lot of money I fear. I currently own a very nice Audi A6 but my appetite for a Range Rover grows stronger by the day.

Here goes for my first of what will undoubtedly be many requests for guidance and assistance.............Whats the best configuration to buy in terms of engine size, Vogue/Sport, colour, interior trim, goodies............Basically the works.

Thanks in advance Guys Shocked In the land of the blind the one eye'd man is king

United Kingdom 2010 Range Rover Sport 3.0 TDV6 HSE Santorini Black

Simplest question first - what's your budget; new or used?

I drive a 2010, and if you're buying used I'd suggest going for 2010 onwards as its got better engines and a much nicer interior.

Hope this helps MY10 HSE 3.0 TDV6 : Santorini Black : Ebony Interior w/Anigre wood : Privacy Glass (total) : Sunroof : Sidesteps : Hybrid TV : Detachable Tow Kit : Spare Wheel Cover : 22" Dished Supersports

Thanks for your response. It does however make my decision worse! Initially I was looking around 25K but that seems to be moving closer to the 30K now, and I know that 30K is not going to get me a 2010 plate Sad In the land of the blind the one eye'd man is king

First you need to decide what spec you want or need, HSE has most of the toys, SE doesn't have as many toys as the HSE, but may have been fitted as extras like satnav and 20" wheels to name a couple, heated rear seats is another thing missing on the SE, i'm not even sure they had heated front seats but i'm sure someone will confirm this. If it was me then i would test drive the old shape, you have a choice of the 2.7 TDV6 or the 3.6 TDV8 in diesel form Smile then test drive a 59 plate TDV6 (3.0L) for just over 30k you can get a 3.0 TDV6 and i know that will be increasing your budget beyond what you wanted but it will be worth it just for the interior alone, then there is the engine which is a good engine with far better mpg than the other two. Good luck with whatever you decide but make sure you get a good warranty with these motors. Thumbs Up

Very informative Ady, thank you. I've been reading that the 2.7 is not the best and if funds allow, go for the facelift 3.0L.

I need to do some serious thinking now Very Happy In the land of the blind the one eye'd man is king

Scotland 2010 Range Rover Sport 3.0 TDV6 SE Santorini Black

Ady, the SE has most of these things satnav and heated front seats as standard, it even has a stereo Wink
The only things missing are perforated leather ,rear view camera , heated rear seats(if my kids want warm bums, I'll take it out their account on my next one) and 20"wheels and folding mirrors.
If you can live without these extras, a low mileage SE should be had for just over £30k. If the choice was between a 59plate 2.7 HSE, and a 2010 SE, the SE would win hands down due to the better engine/interior.
Cheers

Once again, thank you for that. I really do need to start my search now, I do fear that it will be a long one though as I'm a bit of a perfectionist Shocked In the land of the blind the one eye'd man is king

Cheers for that cod, as i said, i wasn't too sure on the SE spec. Yow your right, take your time and make sure you make the right choice. Thumbs Up At least it will give you time to save a little bit more towards your higher budget now. Wink
