Been to Davos, but doubt I could do it in 2 hours from geneva! Never skied there, but it is one of the more expensive ares, so that ruled it out.

Morzine has now been booked, just hope there is still snow in march!!

I hope you are right Nick, with nearly 4 full days of skiing we will no doubt be over that area anyway
Got a cracking deal in a small fully catered chalet including transfers from Geneva, can't wait!
Cheers

Morzine is one of our favourites, been there countless times. Had a chalet not 100 yards from the ski shop/Pleney lift.
The little ski shop by the Pleney is great if you don't want to walk too far after a long day on the slopes. I used to bring them a small pack of beers and the rest of the week was like having butlers Smile

Unless you're a hardcore skier, the Morzine/LesGets only pass will be plenty enough and there's a cabin that goes from the village to the higher slopes, so low snow isn't usually a problem.

As said above though, if you're more advanced and need more challenging slopes, get the Avoriaz pass, there are cabins from morzine to avoriaz, or the bus (which I believe is free), or your car. Note: No cars are allowed in Avoriaz, so you have to part in remote car parks and make your way into the resort - not sure how that's done other than walking.

Thoroughly recommend a car if you're self catering, the shops are not necessarily walking distance with three bags of shopping, a crate of beer, six bottles of wine and five kilos of cheese ! All depends where your accommodation happens to be.

Edited to add link to SnowEye to check local web cams

Mr Frog,
Great info, thanks . With being later in season, do the extra £20 I think we will get the access all areas pass.
Fortunately the chalet is fully catered and as much wine as we can consume!!
The only spanner in the works is one chap who snowboards went two years ago and reckoned because it was so low the snow was rubbish, but looking back it was a pretty bad year for most of the resorts
Cheers

Thanks Nick, you know what these boarders are like, stomping about like hormonal teenagers if they don't get their own way! Wink

At that price, it makes sense indeed, we used to go during school holidays and strangely enough prices increased significantly regardless of snow quality Smile Hopefully we can go out of holiday time this year Very Happy

Can't remember which year, but Christmas was rubbish and later in the year was better, it really is a lottery at the end of the day. What used to be guaranteed snow time no longer is and vice versa.

I just got back from Morzine and its having a great year so far! It snowed most days and there were certainly no issues with thin snow, as there seems to be a healthy base layer.

Defoe worth the extra for the area pass though, particularly if you want to enjoy a bit more adventurous terrain! Now

I work in Chatel, running a ski transfer business from Geneva to all areas of the Portes Du Soleil. I might be bias Wink but Chatel is top of my list.

There is always the option of going over that side if the conditions are not great above morzine. I believe chatel is north facing so should stay snowy longer. As richamartin says morzine has had it good lately, with 20cm yesterday, but the long range forecast looks sunny till the last week in feb then a few days of snow, just hope it stays till mid march!
Cheers

Trust me you've no worries about snow at all, around the Portes Du Soleil. Chatel, Morzine, there is bundles, to the point it's the most we have seen in years. Unlike previous years, a really good base went down in the early part of the season, so unless it becomes tropical or gets hit by a meteor, should last right the way through until the end of April.
