Can i mount resistors on OEM LED rear lights.....

Can i mount resistors on OEM LED rear lights myself?
I can get some cheap and was wondering if I could do it myself and then just put them on the car. 91 BMW 850CSI

Getting the right spec. resistor and mounting it so that if it gets hot, it doesn't melt any plastic.
Example fixed to metalwork for passive cooling:

So it is just enough to mount it for the turn signal right? 91 BMW 850CSI

Only if you don't mind the double-speed flashing of the left indicator ("turn signal left")...

Wink

Resistors are needed on each of the indicator circuits to provide a dummy "load" and ensures that the green indicator warning lamps/arrows in the instrument cluster flash at the correct speed.

Without resistors fitted, the much lower power consumption of the LED indicator units in the rear lights causes the original controller to believe the indicator lamps have blown and flashes the indicators on the dash at double speed as a warning to the driver.

The resistor should bridge indicator +ve and common ground - suggest you do it body-side of the wiring, rather than lamp side, so that it's easier to mount the resistor to the body for heat-dissipation. Spec. as mentioned above - 6 Ohm 50W (although some people have managed with 25W)

(EDIT: can't spell)
