Wiring tow bar electrics anyone done it?

I'm getting an official LR tow bar electrics kit. I've read in various places that once the electrics have been fitted then you have to have the car reprogrammed to be able to tow? (Poss something to do with air suspension and reversing sensors? Can anyone please help? Many thanks Big Cry RRS Dynamic

works fine with out programming, the programming only disables the fog light and rear sensor while reversing, I had the kit fitted and the programming done and servicing time. Tesla Model Y - 2023

Not quite

The genuine tow electrics will work just plugging them in.

Activating them on the car enables tow assist which controls air suspension etc when driving, the system (depending on the sockets fitted) also disables reversing sensor when connected etc etc.

Worth activating. Mike

Towing electrics installation problem. HELP

Hi, I have bought tow bar electrics from Duckworth landrover spares, VPLST0014. I am attempting to fit the loom at the passenger side behind the trim panel. I have got to step 8/9, and the instructions say to remove the section of loom and bin it, and replace with new loom.
Problem is I have a spare bit of loom which goes down to the bumper, and it is not unplugable. This is not the cable which is marked rear bumper and has the plug, but it is loomed in with the bit I need to remove.
Do I have the wrong part.
My car wiring loom has checked stickers dated 18/10/10, and was registered dec 2010.
Thanks in advance

You could have the wrong version, there are 3 versions I think.

The 11my kit is as you say...

There is a plate and loom in the box; you remove the exact same part you see in the car it's not too far along. It will have less wires on it, pull the wires through and feed the new wires in...I'm sure it has the cluster connector in but I could be wrong

It's been a year plus since I did my 11my so I can't fully picture it and the 13my I now have just plugs in behind the bumper Mike
