I suppose you could see if you can try a new battery and see if that cures it, but that will only help in the short term if it's the alternator. I'm not particularly technically gifted with cars , but is there a way you can check the alternator output yourself ?

Now that it's a tad warmer it's pointing toward a failing alternator I think.

I suppose the first thing would be to check the battery voltage with the engine off and then with it running. If you get low voltage followed by decent voltage then that might suggest the battery is dying. If the voltage doesn't rise much with the engine running then that might suggest an alternator that is dying.

Thanks for the responses so far. Given these cars ability to burn through alternators and I know this car of mine had one replaced at some stage in the past (don't know how long ago) should the good folk at LR not have upgraded this component and installed a more capable option?? --------------------------------------------------------
