Transmission/Engine behaviour when cold 2.7 TDV6 | |
Hi Guys,
Recently I've inherited a 07' RRS 2.7 TDV6 from my father. The car has a mileage of 112000 kms. I've noticed that when I drive the car after it has cooled down or when i first start the car in the morning, my transmission tends to shift to neutral (well, the engine idles, the gear selector stays on the D position) when I realease the gas pedal even if I'm driving 100 km/h- when it heats up it behaves normally- brakes with the engine. When I press gas again it accelerates normally, shifts right back in. Moreover it seems to rev differently when cold- for example driving 70 km/h on cold engine/transmission in manual mode I have 2000 rpm, while on warm engine it goes down to 1500 rpm. The difference between rpms on each gear is also somewhat smaller (i.e. in auto mode the rpms drop by just 200 with each gear change when cold, 500-700 when warm). Doing all this the car accelerates normally, doesn't have a lag, rides absolutelly smoothly.
I've had the oil changed, but it hasn't changed the way the transmission shifts at all.
I also get a buzzing noise coming from under the bonnet when I accelerate in manual mode, 5th gear, speed around 60-70 km/h.
Is it normal for the transmission to behave like this when cold? Or is something wrong with it?
Do your cars do the same?
I'll be very grateful for any help.
Cheers,
Peter from Poland
