Winter Care

I have had my Sport for over a year now. I have forgotten that the doors and wipers stick during the frosty mornings

Any recommendations for general winter care?

for starters

WD40 on hinges and locks?
change ratio for windscreen wash?

...any others?

what about
coating for the windows?
top up of anti freeze etc? mind you I have just had the car serviced a month ago Oh wow

WD40 isn't a great idea for things that should be greased e.g. hinges. It dissolves grease and can leave things with less protection than they had before.

I use Halfords pink pre-mixed screen wash all year round. It's good down to about -8degC apparently and is pretty smear free too. No need to change mix ratios.

Coolant should be 50% all year round. "Topping up" antifreeze should be a thing of the past.

A decent windscreen clean and treat is not a bad idea though. I use Rain-X but others swear by G|techniq G1 and G5 products. I keep meaning to try the G1 for myself. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

I actually have never done Nything from the above. But I live in London, it doesn't get that cold here. I keep wipers off during winter just in case and use the wind screen heating when it goes below 0. Never had a door stuck even during ski trips. Vadim A.

Thanks for the responses

I find the handles get door stuck but manageable ...the boot button gets really stuck and the windows take ages to demist

so a bit of grease (any types?) on the hinges, what about handles and boot opening button (at the back) Oh wow

I have a similar issue with the boot button in the winter. I think it gets moisture in it and freezes.

The solution (for me) is to programme the key fob bottom button to open the boot/tailgate.

Gets around a seasonal issue.

Maybe less frequent on newer models? 2005 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE in Artic Frost. 20" 2010 HST Alloys, sidesteps, Hawke tips, plus minor bits and bobs along with a remap. Four spike spiders ready for the Alps again now tucked up in their garage boxes...
